Honest question about incels

I am very familiar with the incel culture and was genuinely curious about something. It’s a known meme that “just take shower and get a haircut” is something that most normies tell incels. To be completely real, why not just do it. I’ve noticed that a lot of incels are unkept and as a man who has had relationships and hookups I know from experience that women prefer a clean cut fresh man. It’s something that everyone can do and shouldnt incels want every advantage they can get?
