Money doesn't lead to happiness but lack of it can lead to a whole lot of misery.

If a significant chunk of your pay goes towards alimony and child support and you have to live out of your car or can only eat ramen, it's gonna be a miserable existence.

Secondly, what percentage of women are rich? What percentage of women marry up? Would you even want a rich women with all that baggage in the first place?

This sub is about finding your self and achieving goals that make you happy, and realizing that you don't need a woman to reach that happiness.

Money ideally is a symbol of someone's effort. If you will see it that way, you can draw satisfaction from money you earned.

Travelling can be satisfactory, but plane tickets do not grow on trees, you know? Money cannot buy happiness, but they can help a lot with developing your passions.

Happiness on the other hand is not found outside - the sooner you understand it, the happier you will be! Search for it within you, you don't need anything external to be happy.

No one is saying we are happier because of money by itself.

We are more free now to do the things we want to do; whether it be studying, travel, or it could be that some of us are ready for alimony and child support to end.

This also doesn’t take child support into account, where women are also heavily favored for custody, and men pay a vast majority of support.

It’s easy to say “money won’t make you happy!” When you haven’t lost half of all of your belongings to a former loved one who cheated on you. Going through the process would almost certainly change your tune.

"Money doesn't bring happiness" but money brings security, and that doesn't make people unhappy. Having to decide between paying the water bill or the electricity bill isn't a very happy way to live life. Money = security. I don't want to get my car repossessed or live in public housing a month after getting fired so that's where the "money thing" comes from for me at least. I want to maximize investments and savings so I can work less but be secure in my possessions.

Money is a way to quantify recourses and in this sub it illustrates that women take everything from a man and only symbolically give back once in a while.

Anyways, there are plenty of minimalists in this subreddit too.
