Beer, wine, etc. have been used for thousands of years to store food value and give something interesting to life.

Archeologists have discovered that the "Beaker Traders" culture in Europe were in fact beer brewers and the beakers were their customary beer cups. That culture was actually made up of several different ethnic groups, who all took up the beer drinking and wandering trader's lifestyle in early post Ice Age Europe.

Was probably a pretty good time to be a man... When you could travel on foot and horseback and visit other ethnic groups with your pack train or your cart of trade goods, and tell stories of far places and share the news from other tribes along your route....

And always know there would be beakers of beer! Pretty good chance that both the mortar from mortars and pestles, and the most glorious of Germanic inventions; the beer stein! are descended from the guys who first made beer and taught the world to really enjoy life and laughter together...

He could be a night shift worker. That would make that meal his dinner. Breakfast food is great for all meals, IMO. Having been a night shift worker, and having enjoyed a beer or two with my "evening meal", leave the man alone. He probably gets to attempt to "sleep" through all the noise of the regular day that day shift workers are awake for.

Edit: examples ars security guard, over night stocker, production of electricity, nurse, doctor, etc...

I never understood why sometimes these places will charge $5 for a coffee or an orange juice - which means you would rather pay a dollar more to drink beer. Worse yet: there's places (especially Central Europe) where beer is cheaper than bottled water in restaurants.

I'm an alcoholic (dry for 6+ years thankfully) and I don't think alcohol for breakfast is a really bright idea. Men face a lot of problems and a toxic addiction to alcohol is the reality for many of them. There's nothing remotely funny about that.

As someone else said this is a normal sight in England (especially Sunday morning) having a full English breakfast with an alcoholic drink. I wish more places did this around here as it is a nice peaceful environment, which sadly many places have been over run with slags and their bastard children, who end up being noisy and disrespectful, so a customer wanting peace and quiet doesn't return.
