Stoicism is the opposite of what society favors. It focuses on being responsible for your actions and thoughts and not relying on external and often materialistic motivations. And we can’t have that, especially in a consumerist society.

People think western liberal humanism is the pinnacle of philosophy, yet here we are with record numbers of people popping pills, addicted to social media, etc. For such a supposedly woke and all-inclusive and human-positive philosophy it seems completely useless. In theory it is good, but when you say “all people are equal and no one should be ashamed or have to exert themselves” this doesn’t make people happy, it makes them lazy. Our nature is to exert minimum effort, with a philosophy of “do whatever you want!” that is just a free pass to fuck around. And now we are obese, uneducated, and unhappy. Surprise

It's the modern mantra to avoid development and to remain in the safe, warm, arrested state of adolescence. It defined an entire generation of millenials and has become more concrete afterwards.

Many people, in fact, mistake MGTOW as a philosophy meant to avoid hardship and by extension development as a man. That's why it vehemently rejects the notion of "man up" and "real man." Because they're terrified of that path.

We are now working on the 3rd generation of males raised by women subsidized by state tax and power monopoly. The most valuable and important citizen has been superficially relegated to a 3rd priority citizen via his own wealth and power. The modern male is coward legion.

Anyone who would pass on that philosophy is a terrified coward, afraid of the rite of passage and will never be anything more than a feminized adolescent. That male is the useless eater.

Adjusting my diet was fairly easy, though I guess it did help that I always ate fairly healthy stuff, cutting out candy meant I just needed to eat more veggies and meat to make up for the missing calories. It probably helped that I was never overweight, and have a fairly high daily expenditure (~3200kcal to maintain weight, it's a struggle to eat that much on some days lol), so I never felt the pressure to be in a major caloric deficit, I just needed to cut down on sugar as I researched into its negative effects, and I was unhappy with my body composition (I was slim fat). The cravings went away after a few days and never really came back.

Exercising was fairly easy to start as I never intended to go beast mode. Working on flexibility/mobility has been the biggest source of frustration, as the progress has been very slow on that front and it's necessary for some of my fitness goals (more specifically, learning the press-to-handstand).

Getting sufficient sleep continues to be a struggle as no matter how disciplined I try to be, time simply flies like crazy in the evening and winding down is always a challenge.

Those are ways of getting yourself from shit to okay. It’s a sad thing when being disorganized and inactive is a norm from which to improve yourself.

Yes, we are inundated by distractions and lack incentive to move, so it's naturally become the norm.

If you want a Greek statue body, yes, you’re going to suffer.

Surely it depends on the statue itself? My physique is fairly similar to that of the Discobolus of Myron, I have more pronounced abs but less developed calves and I've enjoyed the process thus far. The least pleasant aspect is DOMS if I overdo it on the leg day, and I have to be super careful to avoid shoulder injuries (had one last year, derailed me for over a month). There are also more buff Greek statues than that,but my primary interest is in developing bodyweight skills, not necessarily building more muscle.

If you want to be successful in a difficult career then you will suffer. If you want a family (no thanks) you’re going to suffer.

Perhaps, but why would a man going his own way be concerned by the traditionally perceived paths of success, instead of reshaping himself in the way he sees fit?
