They don't want to be youtubers, they just want someone to love them, and the parents sure as shit wont. I would wager that 3/4 kids have parents that don't really give a fuck about them so this stat makes sense.

Meanwhile a tractor can cost as much as (or more than) a high end fancy car.

The Got Rich & Famous QUICK Super Duper "YouTuber" is just the latest manifestation of the above.

Add in various OTHER "social media" -- Facebook, Instagram, etc -- and just about everyone thinks that THEY TOO can become an "Insta-Celebrity" -- I mean all it takes is a digital-video-camera thingee, & some "content" right?

Well, maybe a bit of talent and "luck" too... but they DESERVE that, don't they?

BTW this kind of nonsense is nothing new:

Probably about 1/4 of the kids I went to high school with seemed to truly BELIEVE that they were going to become "Rock Star" musicians... see because they could (kinda sorta) sing, play guitar or drums, etc ... and they had a "band" see (never mind that it was like Bill & Ted's "Wyld Stallions" -- partly because that film was still a decade in the future) -- a lot of them ended up playing a gig or two at local bars, a few actually DID make money... as "wedding" bands; most of them of course never learned how to even play well enough for any quasi-public performance.

Another 1/4 were absolutely convinced (at least at the start of the Freshman season of their sport) that they were going to someday be really big-time MLB, or NBA, or NFL athletes... some tried to maintain that (despite a shitload of evidence of their incompetence) during sophomore & junior years... but by senior year the BEST of them (a handful total) were generally just hoping to get some fill-ticket "sports scholarship" to Podunk Statue University (which basically didn't happen, IIRC 2 or 3 of them got partial scholarships to come lesser "Community College" thing).

Yet another 1/4 seemed bent on assorted other (lesser) BIG "Celebrity" dreams -- they were going to be actors, models, TV Sports commentators, other Radio or TV personalities (being a DJ was a "big thing" to a small group -- sometimes the "backup plan" to being the "Rock Star" above)... or somehow some kind of "famous artist" or "famous writer" (even though all of their work to day was puerile at best). Generally speaking most of these persisted in their "dream" -- in no small part because there was nothing in HS to really "burst" that bubble. AFAIK, one chick did manage to "model" in some clothing catalogs, moved to LA and even had some "girl #3 at bar" part in some low-budget film (she has ONE entry on IMDB), other than that well I think I couple of them did get to "play" at being a DJ on some college radio station, but that's about all...

The rest, the last 1/4 ... had NO such "celebrity" delusions; all along aiming at/opting instead for "practical" things either trade school/trade work, or small in-state college to get some actual "profession" (accountant, engineer, teachers, etc; AFAIK we didn't have anyone headed into "medical" field, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the girls didn't end up as nurses or therapists or something); and not a few intended to just go straight to some job, learn some skills & eventually start some kind of a business or another (mechanic, construction, etc)...

Oddly enough, the most successful were from that last group (at least in terms of achieving what they set out to do); and the majority of the REALLY "successful" kids were from this last segment it. (Not saying the accountants, engineers, teachers, nurses didn't do OK; but nothing that impressive.) I think the key difference -- beyond the lack of "delusions" -- was that the last 1/4 figured they would have to get there on their own steam, and weren't counting on anyone ELSE to "discover" them and "gift" them with some magical "instant success."

Of course virtually all of the first 3/4 -- the future "rock stars/sports stars/other celebrity" category groups -- ended up in some generic traditional job or another (and probably did OK for themselves). But I know about a handful of them "crashed & burned" in one manner or another (usually drugs).
