People come together to have children. Love is just chemicals that make you want to stick around and raise them, so they stand a chance. It fades in time, and a lot faster for the female I may add. Since hypergamy and doubt are her natural instincts when it comes to sexual selection. Whatever else you feel for her is projection. It will be ok man, trust me.

Unfortunately we are fed many bullshit lies since childhood. Happily ever after love is one of those lies. Sorry to break it you but such love seldom exist in the real world. Love is just chemical reaction in the brain for people to get together and reproduce. That is why it is intense for first few months/years of marriage but fades over time. The same people who are ready to die for each other after marriage hate each other after 20+ years. Don't let your instincts get better of you. Control your brain, don't let your brain control you.

It depends on what you mean by love. A lot of comments here equate love with lust. Love, as in Eros is very different from lust and many times can be totally separated from it.

As a kid, I once came to love a girl in every sense of the word. Sex was the last thing in my mind, all I wanted was to spend time with her, laugh with her, keep her away from danger and become the best possible man I could be, all to make her happy. My fantasies about her were not sexual in the slightest, but were instead about us overcoming challenges and growing together, dying together. I cannot lie though, my fist attraction to her was purely physical, but it didn't remain so.

Love is not something you happen to find in the middle of the road, people don't suddenly "fall in love". Love is built, and strengthened, and when things go from bad to hell, it is love that will keep a couple together, cheering them on through difficult times.

This is however, very VERY rare, it was rare throughout history, and it is non-existent today. Why is it rare? Because women are not aware of their faults, and many times they don't even want to be. There's no role model for how women should act towards their husbands, we've no system in place that exposes women's nature and calls them out to go beyond their biological instincts and treat men like human beings instead of ATMs.

Men know that they're interested in sex, they know that what attracts them to a woman is purely physical, but unlike women we learn to see past that. We suppress the beast inside and come to see women as more than just objects of our pleasure. Society however, does not want us to do that, since day one of our lives as men society over stimulates our sexual drive to keep us from seeing women as human beings, because once we do, we get to see what a disgusting human lies inside that beautiful body. In the past women were (at least somewhat) better than the women today, men would still see their faults but it was something they could have worked around... but not today.

Anyway, this is why a woman's love is so rare. Because no one calls them out on seeing men as objects. In fact, so much effort is put in blaming men seeing women as objects that every girl in our society has undeservinly put herself in a higher moral ground that every man out there, and who can bring her back down?

Meanwhile you see other objects out there which you imagine are MUCH better. Movies show you how your life should be. But your life does not look the same? There must be something wrong with YOUR object. Kick it. Nag it. Make it work properly. It won't? Time to shop for replacement. Hop online. Make a profile. Wow, look! A hundred messages in a week, or more, to my photoshopped profile. Time to hit the gym. Time to look good. Time to make plans.

What is he, anyway? Object. Doesn't matter. There's better out there. There's replacements. Find a replacement while you can! Clock is ticking. I'm 32. Maybe 10 years left (she thinks) before the wall. Talk to a lawyer. REALLY? I can get THAT much? Well, what do I have to do?

As far as relationships go I feel that it's infatuation that becomes a habit then it becomes a full on ego driven addiction. You invest time and effort into it and thus it becomes harder to give it up or have it stolen from you. You'll fight to protect your investment.

It technically does exist, it just means different things for men and women. Male love is unconditional and sacrificial - the kind of love songs are written about. Female "love" is conditional and opportunistic. A female will "love" a male only in so far as it benefits her. If the male no longer provides her with any benefits, her "love" will disappear instantly. Just like when your old gaming PC no longer can run the newest games. You will no longer "love" it and will replace it without second thoughts. This is what female "love" is like. Thus, I think it misguided to even call it female "love".

Scientist have already studied this. Love is "real". It's a chemical process in the human brain. The brain is washed ( sorry, forgot the name of the chemical ) with this chemical. It can takes years. The average cut off is 5 to 7 years. That is why there is a term, the "7 year itch". That about the time the love is gone.

If you are into psychology, Jungian analysts will tell you that love is a projection of inner good values that you don't see in yourself. The other person is seen thru rose colored glasses. They don't see the person. They see past the person. That lasts until the person does something to break the illusion.

In the end, love is either chemical or psychological. But either way, it wears off.

Other types of love is a whole different category. My reply was about romantic love.
