I think females decide the evolutive path for any species in the mate choosing they make. This is reflected in that a lot of species have highly specialized males (think peacock check a female vs male peacock) while the females just remain in what the average of the species would be. This specialized males come from females picking one trait over the other. And while females must have one and only one trait (being fertile and keeping the babies alive) males must compete and show more of what the females like. In humans and most species yet to specialize the males show a high diversity of attributes (think "IQ distribution" difference between males and females). And the females choose which of those get pass on by sexual selection. Since there are no longer external pressures to make us evolve in a certain we but sexual than the females of our species will choose how mankind evolves. Any thoughts on the future of our species?
