The rise of autoimmune disease in 1st world countries is a direct consequence of the digitisation of kids' lifestyles. Where they should be out playing in the mud they instead sit inside in a relatively sterile environment, leading to a comparatively underdeveloped immune system. Coupled with the incessant need of parents to administer antibiotics and other medicines for the slightest issues and we have a rise in drug-resistant bacteria and a lower overall capacity of the immune system to deal with them. Heavy metal poisoning is an issue, but not nearly prevalent enough to warrant a complete veto on the government practice of preventing kids from getting preventable but deadly diseases.
Trust the government not to have your interests at heart, but to have their own at the forefront of their minds; that their best interest happens to be 'not pissing off the populous too much' coincides neatly with the fact that if those same 'foreign substances' were harmful, people would be up in arms, with considerable firepower, rioting against them.
Tldr; autoimmune disease prevalence is because kids aren't developing their immune system, and the government aren't trying to kill you.

Those are called "clinical trials" - how else are they meant to find out if a drug works if not to test it? Said trials are always conducted on fully informed volunteers. Of course the government had to pay compensation for failed trials - that's part of the contract.
The only "wishful thinking" is on your part. You've been caught up in the 'don't trust anything the government say' fad. I don't really blame you, for every opinion there is a counter-opinion, but my sources are far from the reliability of tabloid newspapers. They wouldn't exist if they didn't work, and even on a value judgement, any parent willing to risk the life of their child and others' children on the idea that 'AAH THE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO KILL US' is either in possession of an ignorance so astounding as to be miraculous or a malevolence so reprehensible as to be unspeakable.
If you can't trust certified doctors with immunising you against disease with a tested and verified method, why trust them with your health in any capacity? Anti-vaxxers are welcome and encouraged to see how that works out. Their foolish ignorance will leave the world as soon as they die of septicaemia the first time they get a scratch.

Your sources are valid, I'll concede that, but you haven't addressed the real question. Yes, there are unethical tests conducted in countries without legal restrictions. Yes, there is a lot of money in the industry. Just because pharmaceutical companies are motivated by self-interest, that doesn't necessarily mean the end product is faulty - quite the opposite, as businesses are motivated to produce quality in order to ensure demand.
I won't argue that doing such things as exploiting vulnerable people in Africa is immoral. We are quite in agreement there, I assure you; but only the CDC article relating to the measles outbreak actually provides evidence of vaccines failing, and that can be explained by genetic mutations in the pathogens, something modern medicine is unable to counteract with any means.
You could argue grounds for boycotting vaccinations based on a moral basis, but such would serve no purpose on a practical level. Big pharma doesn't care for the protests of individuals, and to not vaccinate simply out of moral outrage simply creates greater issues, such as, even on the off chance the science is right, you endanger children and immunocompromised people. Is it not enough that people who are vaccinated don't often suffer serious adverse effects? Of course there are exceptions, but they don't disprove the rule.
The government will defend the industry so long as it brings revenue, not out of deceit but out of necessity. It's good for the economy.
