Sadly, 'vocations' seem very rare these days. It must have been peaceful to be part of a time period when what the world needed was what people got paid to do because it HAD to get done.

I don't care about "what the world needs". Who is "the world" anyway? A bunch of merely average people that made reality TV popular and are glued to social media. No thanks.

Happily, by removing that limitation, the overlapping areas that give me the most out of life are actually bigger, not smaller.

Never related to this. I have immense satisfaction in my life, and all I do is work to support myself while writing as a hobby.

I don't really care what happens to the world, or what it needs.

New to MGTOW here, sorry for the rant: I was shamed by my entire family , and extended family cause i stopped being a "well paid "criminal lawyer cause the stress was eating me up cause i am chronically ill on top, and i just hated being around miserable people sometimes. My country values the lawyer job very highly cause of status, and I thought i was doing something usefull untill i realised most cases ended up poorly, with rapists just given an anklebracelet, or this poor guy being taken away his license for a shitreason making him even more poor and desperately said crying in court. Well i quit one day, handed in my resignation and my fiancee dumped me on the spot. Thanks "love of my life". I tried being a musician cause thats what i loved (guitar) and i moved to portugal to play on boats, beachbars and little festivals as a kind of santana-vibe relaxed guitarsolo dude cause fuck her superficial ass (she worked in a store that selled nailpolish and shit). When i came back my own mother and father didnt even want to speak to me. Thats where i'm at right now. I still feel guilt so hard for not being one of my families BMW-club of narcissistic pricks, the're all rich as hell but miserable as fuck. But i'm working on it. Its such deepseeded guilt that i cannot find joy in playing my instrument anymore. It sometimes even makes me feel like a loser. Sorry, new to MGTOW and its opening my eyes. Moving back to portugal asap cause my heart cannot take such low forms of morality anymore. How did I not realise i was a puppet? for my girlfriend, her stepmother to do the "my stepson/bf is a laaawyeeer"? for my own parents who actually never cared for me if i needed help or a talk.

I saw this picture few times already and someone under this picture wrote something that opened my eyes: you dont have to go for middle Ikigai becouse it will be very hard and most likely you will fail.

You can take an easier way, for example go for vocation and passion - having a nice passion and a well paid job as 2 different things looks as satisfying as Ikigai.

Or do your own blends...
