Syfy series Dark Matter had 'super-women', yet explained it with a backstory of the women being genetically modified, or being android. The younger, normal women did not beat up men. I loved this series yet it was discontinued. I highly recommend it.

The problem isn't that Hollywood wants to depict strong fictional women.

The problem is that the only way Hollywood knows how to write a "stronk" female is by having her dominate other men, specifically by the virtue of her "superior femininity" as opposed to the man's inferior toxic masculinity

Eh Hunger Games is a fairly mild example. She survives mainly through her woodsman experience and skill with a bow. Any time she has to fight someone directly she gets her shit kicked, even by other females. She also has several male friends and mentors that she sees as easily her equals, if not superior. Her boyfriend "Pita" or whatever is a bit of a beta loser, but there's other tough dudes in the story.

Anyway, I'll take this style of female character over the OP girl power nonsense any day.

I think it's the experiences/exercise that make someone strong. I train at a boxing gym and I've seen a lot of young girls, even minors, turn into excellent boxers that can spar evenly with their male counterparts. Catniss (?) has trained a lot in the movies and her development is quite logical in my opinion.
