A few weeks ago some woman ordered the cab to come pick her up from a club. He picks her up and asks him to make a stop to pick someone else up. He said no problem but while they wait there will be some fees.

She got very angry and argued that there should be no fees because at this hour he has no other calls anyway. He told her that the system charges and that at that hour he does get calls sometimes because of the clubs that are closing.

She started cursing him out, took out her lipstick and destroyed some of his car, and stormed off.

A few hours later he finds out that the cops are looking to arrest him for raping a woman.

He is a married man, his wife calls him crying, and he gets on the phone with the cops that are at his house. The cops demand he immediately pull over wherever he is and tell them his location. They say that this is about a sexual assault that took place in his car within the past 24 hours! They said they can track him regardless and warned him not to destroy evidence. He actually recorded the last part the call!

He tells the cops he has a surveillance system in his car and they can review it, they yell at him to just give his location and anything he says can and will be used again him! Very fucked up call.

He gives them the location and detectives show up, guns drawn (guess the race).

They take him to the local station house and start interrogating him. He learns its the woman he argued about paying for waiting, and he begs them to please look at the footage. They say that the guy that can handle that evidence won't be in for another 3 hours and they place him in a holding cell until that guy shows up. In the meantime, his wife called a family friend that's a lawyer but he does not handle criminal cases, he did agree to go down to the station house.

He ordered them to preserve the evidence and ensure that nothing gets destroyed. Within 15 minutes of that evidence guy showing up, they told the taxi driver hes free to go.

The cops claim they acted in this way (guns drawn and more) because the hospital did some rape kit on her and it showed trauma in line with a sexual assault!

He filed a police report against her for filing the false rape claim but he said prosecutors are moving slow.

He said the cops did apologize and even called his wife to confirm that the woman did lie, very rare to hear cops doing that but a nice gesture.

I did some searching and I see that false rape and assault claims against taxi drivers is nothing new, I hope all of them use video devices to protect themselves.
