Buy ear muffs for studying. On top of that, study in a dead silent room or the closes accommodation to that that you can find. 4 hours a day on class material minimum. Concentrated and deep study. Go to office hours with qustions. Ignore all of your friends and end relationships with them if you have to. Be rude about it if necessary. No social media. Aim for the ideal sleep schedule of 9pm-5am or 10-6. Study early in the morning before class and after dinner. Rest and all day Saturday. Plan meals and snacks for the weekdays on the weekend if you don’t have a cafeteria with food already made so that you don’t waste 2 hours a day just to decide what to eat and have to get it. For the first week or two of the semester when there isn’t a whole lot to study or you don’t have anything to study ahead on, use the extra time to read books or learn about investing, so you know what to do with the money you make in your career after school.

Engross yourself in the material and read. read. read. Become better at reading comprehension and dealing with unfamiliar concepts. Get excited when you’re confused. Pursue the correct explanations relentlessly. Make study guides for every test one week in advance even if all the test material hasnt been covered yet in class. Fill in the remaining info from the last few lectures as they come.

No parties. No alcohol period. Major distractions. Learn to find joy in learning. I highly suggest basically isolating yourself and becoming a bookworm and learning how to be a methodical person. Get to the point where you master yourself enough to where you can adjust accordingly. Basically learn to become a professional. Use Sunday to lounge around and have fun. Pick one weekday per week (no more than one day) where classes are the most heavy and the most physically or mentally taxing and use the entire afternoon of that day to sit down with snacks and watch a few movies back to back to back before bed.

A 2.68 GPA is fine if you’re a freshman or sophmore. If you become a well read and disciplined person who has a bit of a nerdy edge it would be hard to not to hit 3.8+ gpa semesters which will pull your overall gpa up.

The most important part is to enjoy learning and becoming excited about studying and learning about things in general, not just stuff you’re told to study for class. Pick something to learn about outside of class. Something that will help you become a better reader or more refined thinker. Somthing that you can learn ‘for fun’ and not feel stressed about due dates or test dates with. This allows you to de-couple stress and learning. People condition themselves to think of learning as strenuous and not fun. This is not only a bad mindset to have but also puts a person at a disadvantage intellectually. Learn another language, computer programming, accounting, read random white papers etc. If you develop that personality and prepare for your classes you will never feel stressed and will be much happier than the kids who are out at midnight on a friday.

Do not forget to make study guides for each class. Extremely important.

Use a laptop and take excessive notes in class, even on stupid stuff unless it’s really just an extremely tangential theing your teacher is saying. Sit up front if it’s a smaller class and pay attention to every word. No playing on the phone. Don’t look to make friends in the class, but exchange contacts with male classmates at the beginning of the semester so that if you have a question about scheduling or due dates of the class you have a quick contact.

Study for exams at least a week in advance. Test day sneaks up on you FAST.This does not mean wait until the last week to start cramming. This is supposed to be on top of the rigorous studying schedule that you would be following all semester for all your classes. Also, do not take the ‘easy’ classes lightly. Hit home runs in those classes and study seriously for them.

One of my first professors said “study like your life depended on it”. I did just that....for 6 years. Also, join a study group and compare notes. Record the lectures and transcribe. Listen to recorded lectures on your commute to school and back. Also make sure not to study for an exam a day before the exam. You need a day of rest.

Based on my own experience, manage to become generally enthralled with the learning. I came to a realization early on that classes were these fantastic opportunities to learn really interesting topics. From that point onward (and 'onward' was many, many additional years) I was a straight-A student. Not because my ability to learn things had changed, but rather my perspective on what learning actually is and a genuine interest in knowing.

In other words, find a spark of passion for that which is to be learned. The process is self-propelling from there.
