My coworker, let's call him Steve, got in trouble with HR because two women felt uncomfortable with the conversation they initiated (sexual in nature, go figure) one evening. He "was told" that this incident wouldn't affect his standing when it came to bonuses, promotions, ect. He decided to stop talking to them to avoid any more problems. This was his only incident with HR.

A few months later, the head honcho told the entire department that, if they felt they were ready to show him what they got, to apply for the senior and associate positions. He then said that if you weren't cut out for the role then he would tell you why so you could work on it. His reason for this is he wants to promote people internally where possible.

He applied for the associate position and waited for his interview. He was so excited for learning something, whether good or bad, from this interview. A month and a half passes with no word as to why he hasn't had his interview.

He constantly talked to his lead to understand what was going on. They pulled him aside today and told him why. They felt he was a risk and couldn't be trusted due to that incident. He got poundmetoo out of an interview because he felt his relationship with these women was good enough to be candid.

I moment I heard that reason today I had a seething rage inside of me. I followed up with him to see where he was at mentally. They crushed this man's spirit on the whims of some cunts. I wouldn't be surprised if he withdraws completely or quits.
