When God punished Adam and Eve for eating the forbidden fruit, he punished Eve by making her long to rule over Adam, but always end up being ruled over by Adam in the end.
It only appears in certain translations and the feminized church tries to interpret it differently at times, but that right there is the explanation as to why.

From a theological standpoint, the nation of Israel is the bride of God.
