I’m sure a case could be made for invisibility as a liberating force in a woman’s life, but I am not the woman to make it, not this week at least, when I’ve been dissed or else flatly ignored by all the men I’ve said hello to.

by my opinion, hitting a wall and being aware of it can be a good thing for a character of a woman. once they realize that their "mating time" has passed, some women choose to go their own way (like we do) and they pursue some real interests in life, like culture, arts, book writing, etc. due to my own involvement in cultural life, I met women in their 50s, 60s or 70s who dedicated their life to cultural work and with whom I had nice conversations about books and culture. furthermore, I do not remember that any one of them "shamed" me because I am not married.

Contrary to this, I have completely opposite opinion about younger women who participating in cultural life. I have an impression that many of them using culture just as a tool to meet and seduce rich older writers. They come even to cultural events dressed as a whores.
