In their defense, there are men doing the same thing. But I wonder the same. If you wear the shoes, they lose value. If not, you better hope there's plenty of collectors out there because those shoes are going to occupy space. At least with things like jewelry and bullion, they're expected to at least keep some value.

Same here, in my country it is legal to have 3 cars on the same plate and only pay the insurance for one car as long as only the one with plates attached is driven on public roads.
Miata (slightly and professionally tuned), a cheap (but almost new) mini-van and a panel fan with towing hook and roof carrier for toys and projects. Needs covered.
Not with plates in my garage a Mazda Millenia 9 with Miller engine waiting to be a Youngtimer in almost mint condition, an US-Import being restored, some 70 yo farm-tractors in driving or restored condition and of course various machinery I bough for being useful (forklift, lawn-mower with Cab and 2m (6ft) front mower (huge garden),...
People in my conservative, catholic area run their mouths, I do not care much and never did.

That is a pretty sensible policy actually, because it is the cars on the road that incur costs that the public need to cover (road wear, emissions, congestion, etc). Cars that are just parked don't cost anything except your own personal space.

Old cars are constructed fairly simply compared to new cars, so the are a slightly easier way to learn basic car maintenance. You will need to know this because they are regularly in need of tuning up and repairs.
Plus, like cheapmichigander said, they look awesome and they're fun to drive.
