Any liberals here?
[–]Saturn198154 points55 points56 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Going your own way means not giving a fuck what society says you have to be.
[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
YES! Well said, sir. MGTOW transcends political ideologies.
[–]padraigmarcus10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This^
[–]Zombocom19112 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, and I think the corollary to this is also not giving much of a fuck what the others (who compose the society) are trying to be or do; not trying to change others.
[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
nope. we're all alt-right. didn't you read the buzzfeed article?
[–]ZealousMathematician4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Liberal doesn't mean what it used to...
But yes you can believe in whatever you want and still avoid marriage, children, or women altogether.
[–]henrysmyagent17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I think there are a great many liberals here.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In what ways do you guys identify as liberals?
[–]lolApexseals2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Look up classic liberalism and it's mostly the same as libertarian. So many of us would be classic liberal.
[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm an independent. MGTOW has little to do with your political affiliation. Some may try to spin it that way, and many who are MGTOW do side more with the right, but that's circumstantial, not a requirement.
[–]LuxuriousComa7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
How do you deal with the cognitive dissonance? Legit question.
[–]DagJumah5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Idk lol I just try and live out on what I believe in.
[–]LuxuriousComa2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Fair enough.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Haha good question, answer sounds about like what I would have expected.
[–]padraigmarcus9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Short answer is "yes". You don't need anyone's permission to believe whatever you want. That being said, your definition of liberal might not be what you actually think it is. I won't preach to you about any political viewpoints. I will only encourage you to keep learning, observing, listening, questioning, etc. The political/philosophical box you place yourself in just might change over the years.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Yes, but the contradictions will depend on what liberal means to you.
I refuse to acknowledge the contemporary Americanization of the term. The American left is such a coddled and delusional disaster right now that I wouldn't want to tarnish the word 'dogshit' through association.
I am a liberal in the classical sense. I'd be libertarian, but I don't think the average person currently has the capacity to handle the requisite level of personal responsibility that it would take to create a libertarian society. I think a true libertarian would say that we need to simply remove the dead hand of the state and people would step up to make things work, which is a dangerously delusional fantasy in my opinion.

As someone who used to call them-self very liberal:
Hahaha you nailed it man.
[–]MMDT1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Why are those countries with more state involvement the best places in the world to live, by any metric you use to measure quality of life
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
lmfao
that's a conveniently invented fact. like idk how you can even say something like that unless you're <15.
not that less government is always better, but it is one of the most complex and nuanced subjects in the modern world, and you just barfed out childish nonsense like it was accepted truth.
again, if you are actually 12, I apologize.
[–]MMDT2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
So evidence which goes against your beliefs are just "conveniently invented facts", gotcha
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
please share said evidence
[–]MMDT2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Just look at European countries , Scandanavia in particular. As well as Canada.
America is an absolute hell hole. The health care alone is ridiculous, never mind all the other problems
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
ahh, i figured this was the extent of your 'evidence'
[–]MMDT4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You're doing a great job at saying absolutely nothing
So anarchy then. Okay.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not really sure what you mean by this, but there definitely are shared threads between libertarianism and anarchism.
My main objection to anarchism would be generally the same: the average person is still to vicious and stupid to be able handle not having a concrete system that gives them the illusion that someone is in control and in charge.
In my more optimistic moments I believe that we have the potential to develop a culture that could support libertarianism or even anarchism through repeated iterations of and improvements on contemporary liberal capitalist democracies, but I will not be holding my breath in the meantime, particularly given the shocking level of cultural regression in the last 15 years.
[–]Vishapstein9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I consider myself to be politically independent. I think there are good ideas on both sides of the isle. However, I think both major parties are corrupt and pander to women (since women are the majority of voters). MGTOW is a philosophy and does not have a political affiliation. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.
[–]XxRandomguyxX8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe? I guess it would depend on how you define it.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sure
[–]TFCNU3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes
[–]WAFC3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Liberalism these days comes tied with blue pill garbage like feminism and racism. I don't see how one could be Antifa, SJW, or a feminist and still be MGTOW. If you don't agree with those groups you're not much of an American liberal.
[–]sidel33 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Both the right and left want men to sacrifice themselves for society. Politics is fun to engage in though. Pure entertainment for me.
[–]davebrain1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
"I voted for Hilary because vagina but I totally am not a feminist." Is that what a liberal being MGTOW means?
[–]DagJumah3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I didn't even vote last election.
" If voting made any difference they wouldn't let us do it." - Mark Twain
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Trump is her cousin. It's a rigged game.
[–]CeleritySteam2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link
Yes, you can be both. Now libtard and MGTOW are diametrically opposed. Same for alt reich because MUH WHITE BABIES.
[–]DagJumah0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
Is this a joke??
[–]CeleritySteam1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link
Not a joke. You do understand the difference between those groups, right? Libtards aren't liberal, at all.
Here, let's provide a small demonstration. State the correct number of genders that exist.
[–]DagJumah1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
Two
[–]CeleritySteam5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
Correct. A liberal would say 2, a conservative would also say 2.
A libtard would name an arbitrarily large number, then spew buzzword vomit about oppression.
MGTOW is apolitical. The reason why libtards hate it is because it means no meal ticket for the landwhales. The government also hates it because it means fewer taxable bodies (likewise female "liberation" meant more taxable bodies and was therefore backed by elites). The government is also apolitical. Yes, you heard me right. Regardless of which party is nominally in charge there is nearly no difference, which is why they distract you with trivial bullshit like gay marriage, ignoring that 1: Why the fuck do M/M couples want it? 2: Which man gets divorce raped, OMG DECISIONS ARE HARD! 3: That was never the threat against marriage, it died before any of us were born when homosexuality would get you locked away or killed.
So a liberal can be MGTOW because liberalism is about freedom and a conservative also can as long as they're not a tradcon cuck, aka living half a century or more in the past. It isn't a political decision and if anything is an anti political one.
Hopefully that explains it better.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So much troofs in so few words.
[–]MMDT0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
Interesting. What, in your view, is the difference between sex and gender?
[–]Emanresu_rouy_esoohc0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Sex is a biological term to differeniate between the male (semen carrier) and female(egg carrier). Gender is a grammatically well-known short-term to differeniate between male/female.
Example: Every spider has a scientific name, but using the word spider is simple enough to communicate a information without losing information.
[–]MMDT0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Your definition of gender differs than those people who would say there are more than 2 genders. That's why it's so outrageous to you
[–]Emanresu_rouy_esoohc0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Nah, the people that think there are more than two genders have made up a definition and demand that everyone accept it. It is not outrageous to me, you are just projecting. There are just two genders, both are short-term references to the biology sex.
[–]MMDT0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
What's their made up definition ?
sounds pretty accurate to me
[–]Solstus222 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm generally apolitical, but I guess as long you don't act like the political extremists, then you're okay in my book.
[–]confesstousher1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Naw, Berniecrat/Green party. #DEMEXIT
[–]drogosan1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I lean towards liberalism, but everything has gone batshit crazy. If pressed, I'll identify as a "moderate libertarian". But I suspect many liberal men are thinking of going MGTOW, especially now how easy it is to be lynched by a wronged feminist. Al Franken, Julian Assange, Bill Cinton etc. are all examples of liberal men being sacrificed on the altar of feminism.
[–]DonaldTrumpsWaifu1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm pretty much centre-left here and did vote for a left-wing party in this year's general election. Most of the left here is still reasonably old-fashioned trade union types (think social conservatives but on the left) and American "liberal" ideas haven't permeated wider society beyond the microcosms of universities.
But I agree with what others have said here in that you can be whatever you want in terms of political affiliation, or not have one, and still be MGTOW.
[–]Onkel_Adolf0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's sad to be a liberal, but even sadder to NOT be GYOW. Avoiding women is a good start to growing up, however. There may be hope for you.
[–]SimonSays4440 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Socially or fiscally? Because if you're socially liberal by today's standards it could be impossible. Fiscally, I myself am a moderate yet socially I am alt-right. National Socialism is the word for it.
[–]mthrowaway520 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Mostly right, but I don't agree with them at all with the start a family bullshit. I also think abortion is a magical tool that could get a man out of paying child support, which is good.
The lower taxes and less social programs thing, agree 100%
[–]MMDT0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I am extremely left wing. Honestly so there's so much Trump/Alex Jones/religious nut jobs on this forum that I'm embarrassed to be a part of it
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I am a classical liberal. Which is probably a little different to what the word ‘liberal’ means in the US. I believe in economic freedom, self determination, low taxes and small government.
For context, have a read about the Liberal Party of Australia, who I usually vote for: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_Party_of_Australia

Liberal Party of Australia
The Liberal Party of Australia is a major political party in Australia. Founded in 1945 to replace the United Australia Party (UAP), the broadly centre-right Liberal Party is one of the two major parties in Australian politics, along with the Australian Labor Party (ALP).
The Liberal Party is the largest and dominant party in the Coalition with the National Party of Australia, the Country Liberal Party of the Northern Territory and the Liberal National Party of Queensland. Except for a few short periods, the Liberal Party and its predecessors have operated in similar coalitions since the 1920s.

watch the soviet story on YT and see if you can stay liberal
modern liberal, no. it's fundamentally incompatible. doesn't mean you have to be conservative or moderate necessarily. but you can't be liberal and mgtow/redpilled.
[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Liberals created the environment for Mgtow to thrive. It's not possible to be both
