Men who don't participate in the sexual marketplace (and those who've been excluded from it) have no stake in society, and no incentive to contribute. The labor participation rates WILL get worse over time, and it will be interesting to see how the media spins it.

Why put in the work if a privileged female will get the job cuz vagina 3 Because we outsource labour to places where almost slaves will do it for cheaper 4 Because automation is taking away the need for strong men

I stopped working because I am single yet was paying 30-40% of my income into taxes. Now I live simply on 30% of my old income.

In my case and the case of a lot of men around here, and many men in what they deem 'fly over country' it's because there aren't any fucking jobs worth doing. I live in the Rust Belt. For a long time here, inside of 30 minutes from where you live, you could get a good full time job, usually a union gig, with full benefits. Typically you'd be working in steel or automotive, but there were also brick plants, glass factories, all kinds of stuff. Well, all that shit went to Mexico or China and nothing has filled the void it left.

So basically, if you live in 'fly over country', your choices are fast food, hospitality, retail or maybe some packing and light manufacturing if you're lucky. Don't want to do any of those? Move or go to college. Where you'll get the money and reliable transport to do either of those things, who knows, who cares? Do it or stop bitching. Essentially, that's the message. Should you finally get a good job, you get the dubious honor of paying for other people's shitty fucking decisions with your taxes.

A lot of us have just given up. Some men gave up before us. As soon as the big steel lay offs began the suicide rates and homeless rates went way the fuck up. Men who had spent their lives and broken their bodies and worn down their joints and for what? To get laid off. The Rust Belt is a fucking miserable place to live and it's made even more miserable if you don't own a car because good luck getting anywhere. A lot of city people just say well why can't you catch a bus or hire a cab? That shit doesn't work around here because it doesn't exist.

I don't blame anyone for giving up. This society is downright dystopian even for people with a college education.

Marriage rates are plummeting, so men don't need to work as much on average. They still participate in the labor force at a higher rate than women.
