I fully understand how communism destroys societies and creates poverty, but there actually are some scary levels of unemployment that could be coming due to technology advancements.

One basic example is Amazon and delivery services are getting insanely good. I can order something that's in North Dakota at 7pm and receive it by 11am the next morning here in Ontario. This is the stuff that is really going to kill a fucking enormous number of jobs a lot faster than new jobs can be made.

Then add robots into that equation.

There might not be any other solution than UBI.

If it does get implemented it probably wouldn't enough money to change my goals in life. It would just help me reach the goals I already have.

Any time you have an idea made up of taking money from people who earned it and giving it to people that didn’t, you just need to go sit quietly in the corner until that idea passes.

There are millions of jobs out there, for all skill and ability levels. We don’t need socialist bullshit, we need to breed the idea of earning a living back into our society.

I wouldn't take it and do nothing, because a UBI society wouldn't last long. Prices would start rising and you would have an economy again, only a very inefficient one.

If you think its 12 levels of stupidity you probably have an answer for the thousands of truck drivers in the US alone that will be unemployed by self driving trucks (even driving in queue with two humans in the first truck)? Or for the workers in the fracking business that got kicked out in the last crisis and not rehired because companies invested in technology instead. Or for all this journalists writing shit about gender and diversity instead of deeply covered articles about tech or politics. Or for all the legal researches getting replaced by AI. Or the stock traders who got replaced by algorithms.

Why do you think everyone and their mother is studying gender and diversity? Because there is nearly no job left for stupid people!

It would convince me to retire sooner and work less but i'd still want to have a good amount of savings. But even for the richest countries in the world UBI isnt affordable, and if implemented would quickly crumble. What is more likely imo is government's moving from "welfare" to "offsetting the gender wage gap" or some other female helping option (like alot of things today) but that would crumble eventually as well.

Socialism++ is double plus good!

The "idea" is a good one, however every time I've done the math on it, it leads to global thermonuclear war. There simply is not as much money as people think there is, and there's only so much taxing you can do to make it work.

Alternately, it requires you to be paid so low, that its not really worth the complete upheaval of the country.

I'm strongly in favor of it. It's the ultimate GYOW.

Capitalism is destroying itself. We're nearing the end of the monopoly game, fewer and fewer people are amassing all the wealth. It's past time to start giving people the same economic benefits the government gives to corporations.

I see many prideful 'work advocates' here who don't understand how slanted the current wealth distribution is in favor of the 1% (really 0.1%) . They also don't understand how a few innovations can provide for billions of people. Does anyone here actually want to work themselves to death?

The only other two alternatives are massive social unrest or makerism (new tech saves us again).

The thing is, we provide value every day. Every time we surf the internet, every time we write a post, every time we click on an article, we create value. Just posting on r/MGTOW creates value, and every post that is placed on Reddit makes Reddit more valuable. Billions of dollars are made by analyzing what we do online, and billions of dollars are spent to understand what we do online.

And we get paid not one red cent.

So the way that I see it, UBI isn't money for nothing. UBI is money to compensate people for the billions of dollars they collectively create for others.

whether gardening, writing, painting, or general maintenance to keep old things functioning.

If I had all the $ in the world, I'd focus on planting pumpkins (soon) for Halloween, and enrich my homestead.

People have been freaked out about automation since the very first assembly line. I remember listening to this hysteria back in the 90s, and now i get to listen to it all again.

Passing something like UBI when unemployment is at record lows for a problem that doesn't exist yet would be insanely stupid.

Now if that ever changes, THEN you address it. And of course i would stop working. Why the fuck would i work if i didn't have to?

People are turning it into a capitalism vs socialism debate, while it’s much more simple. When women don’t require the direct contribution of a man to survive, they become extremely hypergamous and stop having babies. It doesn’t matter if UBI ever becomes technologically possible, your society will die.

This is why we won’t ever get “socialism with robots”.

I actually believe in UBI, !!!BUT!!! only as a replacement for the broken hodge podge of social programs out there. Look up the ACTUAL cost of living in an area, for a basic 1 room accomodation in a building with a shared kitchen and common areas. Not an apartment on central park west, I mean out in the edge of the city, add in cost of basic staple foods and seeds for growing salad greens and store able staple vegetables, beans peas beets potatoes. ANd by basic I mean chicken legs, pork chops flour for baking. No prepared foods, no store bought bread. SOmething along the lines that would pay for shelter, basic sustanence and allow for a few hundred a month for personal items. nothing fun, no cable tv, no coffee by the cup, no cell phones beyond a basic $15/month txt and incoming call package to go get a dam job with. will also have the side effect of curing a lot of obesity. Agenda 21 wants this all to happen anyway.

Eliminate the bureaucracy and social workers

elininate the welfare trap, so if this basic number in small town north america is 15K a year have the welfare clawback be a gradual scale up to 30k. A lot of welfare bums have it figured out that they stop trying once they get to the 100% clawback from any side money they do get.

I guarantee if you made this offer to anyone on the street who was ready to be sober and have a second chance they would take you up on it. If they arent ready then they can feel free attempting to win that darwin award.
