This couldn't be further from the truth from a biological and evolutionary standpoint. Raising children has been and always will be a male-centered task. Women have a 4-6 year maternal attachment to their offspring before abandoning them and looking for different sperm (7 year itch).

Men are also hard-wired to fiercely serve and protect their offspring for life and without the need for a chemical/hormonal push such as that required for women during pregnancy.

Therefore, the burden of raising offspring is very difficult for men. So they would be more picky about putting their seed in just anything and having to raise half-retarded ugly babies (sorry, not being mean, just honest).
