Besides a boat, cars are the dumbest thing you can possibly spend money on. Most of us need one, so they are a necessary evil. But a luxury car? Unless you are extremely wealthy and dropping $80k is nothing, then it's just stupid.

I'm very fortunate that I live in a city where there is no need for a car whatsoever so I'm saving $20-25 per day in after tax money by not owning one. That means that I can drop $35-40 of pre-tax cash every day into my 401k/IRA. That's $12-15K per year. However, if I needed a car, the MB would be on the bottom on my list. Just look at the residual values of their cars. They are in the shitter for a reason.
