A normal movement requires leadership and everyone else follows.

Problem is that all men want to lead. This causes us to do our own thing and make something in the world. We then see that other men did the same and we can put our heads together and build the world into something bigger. We follow our own dreams... this means we sometimes work together but we won’t sacrifice our dreams for another. That’s the brotherhood that we’re building.

It's a very interesting thought, I agree, of course. Aside from a rare stupid comment that I find irritating, it's funny how it works out: Men going their own way (never a focused movement by definition) unites people as if it were a movement.

Thats the thing. I dont know where this notion of men liking hierarchies and groups came from but its complete bullshit. No man with a grain of pride enjoys being in a hierarchy or a gang or a movement or ideology or any sort of group. Who wants a leader to take his hard earned self respect and to give himself over to a more forceful personality? Who wants to be sublimated into a group? Its pathetic. Men naturally want to be independant and the thing is we're pretty honorable with people who are willing to either be honorable in return or be willing to live and let live. Theres this great scene in the outlaw josey wales which absolutely encapsulates what i mean. Josey and 3 bears ( i think thats his name) the chief of the indian tribe reach a mutual accord by becoming blood brothers. Slicing their hands and clasping them together. Preceding this they acknowledge that confrontation is to be avoided by making veiled indications of their rifles and pistols as enforcers of rules and what a sad outcome that would be but josey states that the sign of the comanche will be above his homestead as a sign of peace. The scars on their hands are binding testimony that each has respected and put their faith in the decency of the other to act decently. No contract is written. No law. No nothing. Just a scar to testify to the fact that as long as you and i are good people then our relationship will be too and that neither wants to rule the other or be ruled by the other. Only the really weak want to dominate others. It shows a lack of ability to deal with the dynamism of daily life.
