I didn't see you mention the most important part of the preparation. The weapons you will need to keep those things in your possessions when others come to take them from you. That should be first on any list.

If society collapses we're all fucked. Even if you have a gun, you're not going to protect your property unless you're part of a local militia.

It's not going to turn into an apacolypse over night. There is "good" in the hearts of people. We'll either live in something closer to third world conditions, or we'll all be killed/enslaved by an invading army. Or something in between. Solar panels aren't going to help you.

Canned food might though.
