I've said this before, and Human/Coltaine brought this up in a recent video, but another big factor is the rise of automation in the home.

Back when a wife would wash your clothes, and that entailed hauling a basket to the river with soap and a washboard, that was a really big contribution. If the wife cooked dinner over a fireplace that was a really big contribution. If the wife made sure the fire didn't go out or burn down the house that was a real contribution. If the wife went to the market to get fresh meat for dinner, because it would be rotting within 24h without refrigeration, that was a big contribution.

In the last 100 years automation has tremendously reduced the jobs women traditionally performed around the home, but have done nothing to the typical male work week. If anything electricity has lengthened the work day.

TFM had a recent video where he read an article where women are literally complaining about having to be the one to coordinate the maid service and food delivery. Even if their work is completely outsourced they complain if they're the one who has to make a phone call and let the maid in the house.

There is no division of anything in a modern marriage except the man's income and assets.

why must i be born into a world where i am forced to live an unfulfilled life. i could no doubt get a girl if i tried but i'm starting to avoid relationships now because i can see what is wrong with the world. ive always been more of a traditional type. i want to fall in love and get married and have a family, but nobody else wants that anymore. its so depresssing.

This couldnt be more true. My poor father is finishing filing the divorce papers in another 2 months here. Tge dude worked hard his whole life, bailed her out of financial doom when they met, made more than 90% of the money while my mom bitched about her choice of work. Now my mom is getting a nice new home while we're forced to sell and move. Likely into an apartment.
