Porn reached a peak in around 2004-2006. In fact if you look at a random TGP porn site, most the good clips were recorded in 2004 and on the top list is still names like Cherry Poppens, Sasha Grey, Molly Rome, Nicole Ray, Aurora Snow and Lexi Belle. Even names as Melissa Lauren and Gauge, who should be considered ancient are still relevant. No new good porn seems to have been produced since the early 2000's. In my personal opinion, this has something indirectly to do with the fact that peak oil happened in 2005. Society now doesn't have enough resources to produce mind-blowing quality porn.
