Before the mods decide to ban you for whatever days and refer you too askTRP, I'd like to say that's a shitty thing to do. I've been on askTRP and the amount of trash posts and terrible beta advice they give over there is disgusting. Most of the dudes over there haven't even read the required material for this sub, nor have they even come close to accepting to kill the beta.

We should be able to post questions here, especially life advice like this here because the main TRP sub has much much much higher quality readers and posters. At least here, we read the material and offer actual TRP advive.

Did you wake up with a roof over your head and with internet access? Guess what? You are doing better than most of this earth.

If you are in debt you are gonna have to pay that down some how. Right now you are gonna have to live below your means and save up until you figure shit out. The bay area is expensive AF, can you find a roommate or downsize at all? Saving your money/paying down debt is now a priority.

What are your goals? Seriously what do you want to do? You did graduate with degree, and like some other poster mentioned you could go teach English somewhere. Fuck the 3 years I taught English at a Japanese university was some of the best years of my life.

You can't control everything, but there are some things you can do. Stop wasting your money on shit food and cook your own at the very least. Cut back on drinking...you know standard shit you see here.

If I were you I'd take a budget snapshot and go from there. You can either stress about your problem or do something about it.

First of all, there is no short cut to learning a new skill,so be prepared to invest at least a few years of your time, 3- 4 hours a day developing the new skill.

Enjoy the process of learning. Udacity has some programmes that guarantee you a job afterwards, so check that out if you are into web development stuff.

Temp jobs. Don't listen to the average loser who says you're fucked. They are thinking in terms of conventional life (i.e. career at 30 and etc). Its up to you to decide what you want to do. Food and Beverage, Temp jobs, something to get you money first to have it together. Avoid retail at all costs or anything that would give you 9 an hour.

Edit: Once you decide on what to do focus on meeting it.

My co worker is that guy and he manages. Step one, get employed. Find someone to hire your ass and show up to work.

Step 2. Don't eat. You're probably eating your paycheck and getting fat. Try toning that down. Life opens up a lot of doors if you are not fat. Not saying need to be six pack usain bolt but you will go miles if can wear a size 32 inch jeans. Don't get fat. Stop it. And being poor and starving helps the fat bit.

Develop a new bad habit. Right now your bad habit is probably video games. You need a new bad habit. Drinking and drugs is a decent and more social replacement of that bad habit. Also drinking reduces your appetite. The inebriation helps be social.

As for social. Develop the i dont give a fuck outlook in everything, including yourself. You become bullet proof when societal expectations roll off your back as you seek out things you want to do.

There are more types of alphas than Chad. An alpha can be a drinking min wage job bad ass and score chicks that are 18. You don't need 6 figures and be brad pit to be an alpha. Money is makeup for men.

But for the first part. You need to unfuck yourself and get a paycheck.

If you're sure you don't want to go into Tech, you should get out the Bay Area and preferably California all together. You can't justify the cost of living. Do you have any family in a less expensive part of the country? Move in with them for a while and go to school in their area.

I would say go into sales, but you need a lot of motivation to succeed.

You want the reward without putting in the work, you haven't realized that you're in the situation you're in because of your attitude, you haven't learned that no one cares how unique you think you are and you aren't desperate enough yet to change. The passion, drive and self-respect that come with working on something worthwhile are the foundation of building the kind of character that has a social life full of meaningful relationships.

That's not to say it is not too late to change. You don't have to remain as you are. It's just impossible to succeed while you're sulking online. You're not applying anything you may have learned here. This sub regularly says to focus on building a skill - You're in a tech hotspot, if you don't want to learn to code then you don't really want to work. Start learning to code today and make it a daily priority.

man if you don't have marketable skills relevant to the bay area, GET THE FUCK OUT. You have no business being in such an expensive and tech dominated area if you cannot take advantage of the opportunities there. And there are plenty of career paths to get financially stable, some can be jump started just by going to a technical college, while others (programming) can be self taught. You're not that fucking old, so stop pretending you are. And lol you're not too old to be any of the things you mentioned save maybe a doctor. Law school takes 3 fucking years and accounting much less than that. Im not sure where you're getting your information but it's out of whack. I know plenty of people that graudated from law school in their 30s

Join the military as an officer. You need discipline and you'll learn it there. Pick whichever branch interests you the best. I'm biased to air force because that's where i served, and it landed me a job making 160k this year. Military was nest thing for me when I was young and unmotivated.

Move to first tier cities in China, Japan, South Korea to teach English while you figure things out. Better than not working at all.

Tech in the bay area is super competitive so you really need to love it, otherwise you'll hate your life while living in a tiny studio apartment without saving any money - wondering what you did wrong.

Go to a temp agency. I was in a similar situation debt depression out of shape useless education etc. I Got assigned to a concrete crew after a few weeks. When my shift with them was over. They hired me fast forward 3 years later my debt is paid have an apartment in a decent part of the city(not ghetto) and am currently saving for a car.

At 28yo I had 500$ to my name.

Moved to a new city with better economic opportunities, got a warehouse job. 6 months later got promoted to sales.

Moved into a place were I get a good deal on rent in exchange for helping out disabled roommate.

A year later got a second job on weekends. Work 7 days a week.

Turning 31 this month and will also pass the 50k mark in savings this month.

You can turn it around, but you cant do so without significant sacrifice. Good luck, its not easy.

If you have a skill in this life, market it. Sell yourself for your skills. You don't need a career per say, you need a successful and legal source of income. Find something you're good at and sell it. At 28, I wouldn't advise you to go to get some wild 6 year degree. What will you do in the meantime, radially with your debt.

There are plenty of gigs in the medical field that pay serious bank and you don't need crazy degreees for them. Try to become a phlebotomist (guy who draws blood), or a radiology tech or surgical tech or Ed tech. Those jobs don't require much, the training for one is like 5 weeks, the technician jobs are two years for a certification. At least from there you'll see clearer and you'll be able to make better financial moves.

Let me put it another way: I have a 19 year old son that just barely managed to graduate high school, and I mean just barely. Had his mother and I not rode his ass like a horse it never would have happened. But he did make it.

Now he works 50 or more hours a week on a post construction clean up crew making 13.00, plus over time. He busts' his ASS OFF, mowing, cleaning, driving a pick up to the dump, that kind of thing. He too suffers from anxiety and depression, he too could have just fallen off the earth and did nothing. He had every excuse. He chose not to. He chose to get up every morning, go to work and have that sense of productivity and satisfaction that only a hard days work can give a man. He is not ashamed of his job, even though it is low paying and not what anybody would consider a career. I know he has no intention of doing this the rest of his life, he's already looking at getting his CDL and joining a union. He does this on his own volition, we don't hold his hand and tell him how special he is. He does it because he realized right after he got out of school that the world owes him nothing, and anything he wants he has to earn, period. I am extremely proud of him, and he will go far in his life just by virtue of his work ethic alone. All the other skills, training and job experience will fall in line for him, simply because he is willing to work hard and be uncomfortable in pursuit of a long term goal.

My point is, you have no excuse. You go find a job right now, no matter what it is, and then you get up every day and do that fucking job, no matter how hard and shitty, to the very best of your ability. One day, that shitty back breaking job is going to lead you to an opportunity for something better. May only be slightly better, but it will happen. Then that job will open another door, and so forth. Eventually, you will have a career or at least the basic self discipline and work experience, to support your self in a comfortable life style.

That's how a man does it.

What you DON'T do is come into this forum with "I'm too Lazy, unmotivated and unwilling to do any hard work to improve myself" bullshit and expect other men to have an ounce of sympathy.

Get off your ass and get a job. All the anxiety and depression (and those things are real, I know. Nobody is disrespecting that) will evaporate in the harsh, pitiless sun of a hard days work.

That's what you need in your life. Go do it right now.

Here is the no bullshit answer, but its not easy. You have to be willing to work on farms, do shitty labouring jobs, travel across the country, work in the desert, in a mine site, overseas... start looking for jobs everywhere, not just in your back yard and be willing to do anything, even scrub toilets.

Don't have the money to get there? Hitchhike while you are starving. Trust me, its these crazy decisions that mold you, change you, and make you grow.

I am not going to share what I did or it will be too close to revealing who I am but basically if you are willing to do anything and bust your ass at it someone will eventually notice you and reciprocate. It will however take time. If I told you what I did though it would blow you away.
