I didn't watch it all but I had read about that chinese people. Apparently they only send the girls to school, the boys are not worth sending. One of the comments said that patriarchy only came about because of disputes between mother in laws and daughters which is interesting because it parallels the development of early menopause in women, which scientists believe is to reduce competition between older and younger women, i.e. an evolutionary adaption.

I'm going to have to defend them on that it's probably less likely the matriarchy causing their demise, and more just a problem that affects all traditional cultures- the lure of technology. Like she said, they all want smart phones, and different music, and to go see bright, pretty lights too.

In a way I thought of it as a sort of caricature of Western society though, in how out in the open the women rule the roost, how everyone can sleep with whomever they want, and how the younger women don't want any part of the"traditional ways of their mothers."

this is hilarious. so basically... the women do all the work, take all the responsibility for the family and the men are there just for 'walking marriage' which is effectively ONS. the men obviously cant know if the woman's child is theirs so they only help raise their sister's child. apart from the lack of education and opportunities for men to pursue their own interests it sounds awesome. but one really needs to ask what exactly is a patriarchy if a patriarchy is the opposite of this? obviously a patriarchy isnt exaclty opposite to this because the dynamic is still different. specifically men needed strict monogamy to ensure the child they were provisioning for was theirs.

if this is matriarchy is what feminists are swooning for then by all means. just let me have education and the ability to pursue my own interests and they can have the rest.
