I don't think that they would do it quite as overtly as that - it'd be introduced in general taxation. In effect we have stuff like this anyway, as being single/childless means that you don't get all the associated tax breaks, benefits and so forth.

Ya it basically already exist. You get either taxed in a single bracket, or married bracket. Married you pay a lower percent therefore the difference between the single and married taxes is the Bachelor tax. It also affects women so I guess that's cool. I support a flat tax for everyone...

Ancient Rome had a bachelor tax for a time as did many other countries throughout history.

It's not ideal but even a 10% extra tax is probably less than you'd have to deal with if you were married or in a relationship.

It won't be a specific tax on a gender. Instead it will be a wealth tax. The men Gov. need to have married and producing are those who have assets. The $12-$15/hour for life MGTOW guy won't be affected unless he is a homebody that does nothing and banks his money. He will be targeted later as his savings grow. So if the higher earning MGTOW guys won't marry, they will pay the wealth tax which will be something like 1% on any bank or brokerage accounts with x number of dollars. Single women will likely get a pass unless they are also introverted and savers. My wife doesn't spend a ton of money for female things, but she spends a lot more than I have to work various beauty, hair care, and health products. Some naturally women will likely have less wealth than a guy making the same money.

They will also go after property taxes, especially for homes on the lower value scale. If the MGTOW guys just focus on buying $100K homes to avoid high rents, watch for governments to raised taxes on these lower valued properties. My brother is on his own. He is a social guy and likely gets girls, but hasn't had a serious relationship that I know of for almost a decade or so? He had an MBA and likely has been making $80K+ for years now. He purchased an old home for less than $90K years ago. Outside of income taxes, many progressives would claim he isn't paying his "fair share" since they can't squeeze him for a lot more in property taxes.

It's cool that I'm being taxed more. Being married is the ultimate tax so I save more in the long run, since I'm actually able to spend my own money and not have it controlled by someone else.

Men in general make more than women, so they pay more in taxes. You get a break when you have dependents, but my dad had sticker shock when we were grown and moved out, he had to pay out the ass in taxes again. My mom has never worked so has never paid a dime in taxes.

There was a time when unmarried men could be tapped for wealth. Those days are over.

These days, all the unmarried men I know aren't making much money, and the money is the reason they aren't married. There's simply not much to tax there like in older days. Moreover, a lot of these men are paying court ordered child support or have their wages garnished; they are living hand to mouth, and taking even more away from them can only hurt the women's economy (barmaids, servers, education, retail, entertainment, health sectors).

So I don't see a bachelor tax any time soon, because I don't see many bachelors that are worth taxing (besides the few of us who go our own ways).

What I do see as a possibility is bachelor austerity, which might include cuts to the GI Bill, cuts to health subsidies to those without dependents, cuts to food stamps to those without dependents, cuts to pell grants, cuts to social security disability, and cuts to subsidized student loans. They'll word it in such a way so that you'll need custody of children to qualify for those benefits, which will disqualify 95% of the bachelors out there.

Because it is one thing when Betty Bourgeois can get men to pay for Gary the GI's VA benefits. It is another thing when she has to do so, and go without her pumpkin spice lattes and hot yoga classes at an upscale studio. That'll cause her to throw Gary under the bus real quick.

The military has something like this. If you have dependents, you get paid more. As a single E5 in the Navy, I got paid less than an E3 deck swabber, because he was married and I wasn't. One of the reasons I got the fuck out of the military.

I could see something like that. However it wouldn't be a bachelor tax as much as a massive tax credit for married couples. The end result would be the same.

could never be introduced today, as its a fundamentally unjust unequal legal discrimination based on sex. it would never fly.
