tldr; Women haven't just lost respect for men, they've lost respect for everyone. Why?

Posting this on a throwaway because my business is tied directly with my main account and I can't make controversial opinions running a business...

This community is unique. It's one of the only places I feel I connect with like minded people. With all this female victim mentality I was beginning to think I was crazy for always thinking “maybe they're not the victims, and maybe I don't owe them anything”

For some quick background on me... My parents are madly in love, I've never seen them argue my entire life. They still act like they're both dating their high school crush and they've been married for over 30 years. Many people think the opinions of MGTOW'ers come from being raised in broken families and that's entirely not true.

I have always been surrounded by powerful and intelligent women. My mother is stern but forgiving. She's never taken advantage of my father even though he has always made much more money than her. She could quit her job if she wanted to and nothing would change in their finances.

One day I sat down and discussed it with her. “Why do you work when you don't have to?” I asked her. Her response deeply motivated me and in fact brought on some interesting discussions about young women today.

She said... “Because nobody owes us anything. If you want something you have to go out and get it.” Quite the contrast in opinion from the women I've met in my life. Every time I even talk to a woman I feel as if though they think I owe them something for even engaging in conversation with me.

My mom has always been very pretty. You would think of all people, the prettiest women would find life easier by manipulating men and taking things. So I asked her, “Haven't people offered to give you anything you want?” She says, “Yes of course, but I've never accepted it.” “Why?” I ask. “Because then where would my sense of accomplishment be? If everything is handed to me then I never learn anything, I never experience anything, and most importantly I'm completely limited to someone else's achievements and not given the chance to make my own.”

We began to talk about young women today and young women back in the 70's. I told her the hassles of dating in my mid 20's and why I feel that way. I told her I feel as though I can't have my own opinion when talking to women. I can't debate an issue equally. If a friend of mine (man) has a differing opinion, I can have a productive conversation about why we both feel that way. If a woman has a different opinion, I can't say anything. I can't point out that I don't agree or I get berated for even mentioning it. In relationships it would mean sleeping on the couch and no sex until I apologize, for just wanting to voice my opinion or concern.

Why is that? Am I supposed to be forever grateful that I'm allowed to even be in their presence? That's what it feels like. My mom says she's noticed that women today have drastically changed. In the 70's they were about peace and love. There was an even more open sexual culture than there is today. She says there was something else though among that peace and love. There was respect. It wasn't like the 50's where you were expected to respect men... no, it was about respecting each other. Respecting both men and women equally. She says that the nature of respect has been lost somewhere through the years. We respect people based on their achievements, their intelligence, and their kindness. Not their gender. Respect isn't awarded to you by being born a female, respect is earned.

I'll give an example from last week that had some men trying to fight me all because I told a woman “no”. I was at the bar, sitting outside enjoying my e-cig. A guy walks up to me and politely asks if he can try the flavor I have. He says “Excuse me for asking but I've been thinking about getting off cigarettes for a while, do you mind if I try your e-cig? It's okay if not.” Of course I let him try it, and he thanked me, and we had an engaging conversation about the troubles of quitting smoking. Then some woman walks up to me and reaches her hand out and in a demanding tone says “let me try that”. I looked at her and said “No”. Just a simple no is all it took for the guys she was with to start calling me an asshole and telling me I need to drink more or something. She says “why the fuck not? You let him try it.” I said “because I don't respect you. He was polite, you demanded it.” One of her guy friends shoved me and said “stop being such a dick” and they went inside. She walked away with this little princess perked up walk like she just conquered France.

The problem though is that this happens all the time, and in my experience, it's always women or started by women. If this were a one off occurrence I wouldn't have even sat down to write this. But the truth is, this is daily life for men across the country. That is in a way why MGTOW even exists. So we boil it down to find that it is not respect for men that has been lost, it is respect for people in general.

I could go on and on about my experiences and why I joined MGTOW. I could talk about my businesses rising and falling based off of whether I'm in a relationship or not and why it happens. But really I want to get your guys opinion on this, I will save my other experiences for another day.

Why have women in particular lost respect for other people? As much as I would like to think it's just men they have lost respect for I don't think that's true. I don't think they respect anyone. What happened?

And since I'm sure people read this sub and laugh at what we have to say. Every time MGTOW is linked somewhere someone always says “ah yeah, that's just a bunch of dudes that had a bad relationship and are crying about it.” Let me ask them this... How do communities even start? Someone somewhere noticed a trend and dared to reach out and state their opinion. Even when they knew the “cool” thing to do was think otherwise. There's clearly a negative change in culture that is taking place and I firmly believe the men in MGTOW are just the ones not taking others opinions at face value. We're not scared of not fitting in. I've never taken anything at face value, I've always dug deeper and questioned the masses. It's why I became so successful at a young age. I take risks in saying people are wrong or the way a company is doing something is wrong even though 99.9% of people think they're right.

Sorry for the long post....
