Introduction

No the title is not misspelled. Satisficing is this concept/verb first used by Herbert A. Simon and it's commonly seen in decision theory. It's cool stuff and I recommend looking it up for your own learning pleasure. For the Curious. Basically we don't live in a black and white world and we can't optimize things to perfection so we have to basically make the "good enough" decision. To quote the late great General Patton "A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week."

I want to break this down with respect to TRP.

Body

Almost everyone here, I can safely assume is striving to become the absolute best they can be as defined by their own standards. In the ideal TRP scenario every guy should wake up early, meditate, hit the gym, eat healthy, get on their grind (whether it be school, work, building your business, taking over the world etc.), read philosophy and everything, have at least one interesting hobby, and slay tons of hot pussy, before going to bed to repeat the process every day.

In a perfect world that's what we should be doing, but we don't live in that world, and that's where you have to make some satisficing decisions.

Some common and arbitrary cases would be. Scenario - Satisficing answer

  1. I can't workout everyday I'm so busy/sore - Can you work out hard doing a full body routine 3-4 times a week even if it's just bodyweight? Yeah you won't become Arnold but you can still build a physique that makes girls pretty damp

  2. I can't afford to build a new wardrobe- Can you at least go to Nordstrom rack and make 2 solid outfits that fit well and look good to go out in? The rest can be shit from walmart (make sure it fits well at least). You won't look like a male model, but at least your clothes will fit and you won't look like a clown.

  3. I don't have time to waste getting hammered on the weekend to meet shallow sluts - Can you hit on 2-3 girls while doing your day to day shit like grocery shopping, commuting, going to the bank or whatever it is you do?

  4. I don't have any cash to spend - Can you sacrifice an hour or two to tutor kids (I did this in college. Easiest 30 an hour I ever made), or do some odd jobs? All it takes is 20 minutes to make a post on craigslist.

There are a thousand other scenarios, but you get the point.

Conclusion

Again, every guy here should be striving to be his absolute best, but sometimes you're going to have to go for the good enough move. Everyone has to do it to an extent. Don't feel guilty about it. Waiting to hit perfection before you do something is silly. Sometimes you just have to be good enough to get going and strive for perfection along the way.
