That’s what happens when district attorneys and prosecutors work on number of cases won. They won’t let you off the hook no matter how much they think you’re innocent if it’ll hurt their closure count. So they’ll plead you down and ruin you via process until you simply say “fuck it, I’ll plead to a lesser charge”.

No, they don’t want that case, and if she recants early enough you won’t get charged by the prosecution. But, once you’re in the system, good luck getting out unscathed. They will fight tooth and nail to convict you on something, anything!
They get paid to sit in court and drag it out. They know you have finite resources and will buckle as long as they drag it out.

Speak for yourself. I spend what it takes to get a case dismissed. Unfortunately I have had enough litigation in my life that I know to go hire the heaviest hitter in town and appear like you are ready to go to war and do whatever it takes. A weak case combined with a hammer on the other side (who all the DA’s eventually want to work for) and it’s over.
Pro tip - ask the bailiffs and court reporters who they would hire if their son was locked up and on trial... then hire that guy.

Apartments and gated communities are really the safest place to live in the 21st century. My parents house always had a motorized gate so people have to ring the doorbell, and after I was kicked out by my mother I now live in a high rise apartment and the security is top-notch. Security barrier for cars to enter, keycard access for residents to walk through, security guards outside 24/7, no Ubers allowed to drive through after midnight, and all visitors must sign a guestbook register and show license / ID to be tagged as a visitor with their time-in and time-out within a 4 hour limit or overnight pass. And that's just to get through the outdoor lobby. Inside there's a pin code, video cameras, monitored elevators, and of course my own door lock and personal security system.
I wouldn't trade it for the world. I feel so safe not even a plane could crash into the building without us knowing about it first.
