I was living my life as the absolute epitome of a beta, and I never realized it until after discovering this subreddit. Admittedly, I did not come here on my own. A long time friend of mine recently told me about this thread, and I have to say, I've never had my eyes more opened than ever before in my life.
Just a quick look into my past self:
I was the epitome of beta. I encapsulated everything that constituted being "plugged in," and then some. I white-knighted, let myself agree to LJBF, got cheated on in every relationship, failed every shit-test (you know, bc previous programming). I even had the typical back-ground. Father hardly in the picture, so I was raised by my mother and taught to put women on a pedestal, be a gentleman, blah blah blah, etc. As far as athletics goes i was never a fatty. In fact, I was on the opposite side of the spectrum, really skinny. I played soccer, though being a cardio junkie and never lifting doesn't make for a good body (not to mention a shitty diet).
To give an idea of how new I am: I just finished reading the 5 links under "New Here?" as well as some of the theory reading/references/posts, but mostly spending my time just lurking and learning. My understanding of TRP is still pretty basic, but I'm working on it, reading more of the sidebar every day. The first time I really had a revelation was reading the story of the reformed Incel, and just going, "Holy shit, that's me." After that I've been working on as much self-improvement as I can. Meditation for at least 20 minutes a day, More sleep than I've been getting (used to be like 4-5 hours), side bar reading (of course), and Gym.
I've actually lived next to a gym since I began university, but reading off of this subreddit made me feel the motivation to go. Nothing too structured as of yet, just kindof alternate the days I go (so arms+abs - legs+abs - chest+arms - cardio+abs - repeat). I'm motivated not to be beta again. I'm motivated not to just be myself, but the best version of myself. I've swallowed the pill, unplugged, and I'm not going back.
I already feel like a different person, in a much better way.
P.S this isn't meant to be an advice question (I know that's what askTRP is for), but if there's anything I'm doing wrong, should do, or otherwise, please let me know.
