TL:DR I'm pretty bad at formatting

I was taught that natural intelligence was not real. There is no way for me to know for sure, but lately I’ve been thinking the way we view it is flawed.

People thought that I was gifted in English in high school, for example, but I knew that I was only better than them at analyzing because I read Nietzsche and other high level books in my free time. I needed to read Nietzsche and Castaneda and Hemmingway to survive a tough childhood. So, they came to understand my struggle as “intelligence.”

I thought I would find others like me in university; I was mostly wrong. I deleted my large paragraph and am going to list off a few of the examples that I’ve experienced recently that are leading me toward the conclusion that innate intelligence is real. Also, I would like to call this the, “blank stare phenomenon.”

1.

I chastise my university with a friend because I’m annoyed that I need 120 credits to graduate, but only 40 of them will be in my major. I may as well get a degree for all of those humanities classes I have to take. Friend haughtily replies that he is fine having to take those classes because it makes him a competent voter and that he will be able to discuss Aristotle so on in the future. I asked him why he had to pay somebody thousands of dollars to read books; why could he have not done it on his own? At this point he looks into his drink and doesn’t say anything, no matter how hard I prod for an answer.

2.

I saw every friend on Facebook get so salty about how every Trump supporter is a racist because of his idea for a Muslim registry. I told them that the NSA and other agencies already have registries of everybody in the United States, so creating another one for Muslims would be redundant. I asked them why they did not deprecate the choice to create a registry for all of us. They went silent; however, I did see them continue to rant about how racist a Muslim only registry was in other places later.

3.

I was at a bar with some people and the girls we were with asked me not to bring one of my guy friends around again because he thought he would get his dick wet talking to them about how he was a feminist (did nothing else wrong). I told him that girls don’t want to hear guys talk about feminism, it’s like a white slave owner talking about how slavery is bad. I told him that typical college age girls on some level hate men. I then went on to tell him about the studies of how women tend to prefer male bosses, while men have no opinion on boss gender. I also mentioned how the gender gap isn’t real and the tax gap (men pay majority taxes/receive few benefits) is real. He didn’t believe me and demands that I show him the evidence. So, I show him the studies. The response, “I don’t know about that….” Or “it’s dangerous to say that.”

In short, these are the responses you will find when debating unintelligent people.

1. Silence:

a. Even if you continue to prod them on this you will never get an answer.

2. Ignore you and then seek a safe space (people who agree with them).

3. Mumble off some non-argument.

If you ever encounter these people, just walk away. They are the walking dead, if you are not ready to be self-critical, grow, and be open to new information, then there’s no point to you. That is to say, *you can’t force somebody to swallow the red pill, it will just exhaust you if you try. *

Now, we are left with two opposing viewpoints that:
  1. Intelligence is a result of how hard and efficiently one works to become smarter. A dumb person can become intelligent and the reverse exists too.
  2. Some people have a natural barrier on becoming intelligent.

I see this in TRP, we talk about things in an intelligent way, we disagree, but I don’t feel like ripping my hair out. I wonder if people just choose to not be intelligent because it’s hard.

I want to believe that natural intelligence isn’t real. Although, I realize that I’ve been around people my whole life that have never made an effort to better themselves. They’re the people that ask randomly, “Can you go get that over there?” and you’re left thinking, what the fuck are they talking about?

Side note of something that recently helped me

Say you have a few Facebook friends as girls who you’re into, who you think you’re going to hook up with one day. If you are not comfortable sending them a message right now to hangout, or if you don’t have a way to hang out with them this semester, just delete them. I had a few girls who I thought would see how cool I was at parties on Facebook and somehow I would just end up fucking them. No. They’re just ideological porn.
