If you have marketable skills climbing the company ladder is BS. Loyalty does not pay in a modern society.

Moving to a new company after at least a year will allays keep your pay higher.

I think you have all the reason to move on.

I usually stay 2-3 years before i move on.

Or when drama starts. I worked 2 companies before started my own. I don't want to be below anyone.

When the only positive thought about work is "better than nothing but not by much". As opposed to the beginning when you were at least slightly excited about going in.

Most places require a two week notice of quitting. Time your two weeks close to the date your manager leaves.

If you get a female boss. It’s a duality in their minds that just leads to disaster.

They think they want to be in charge. Feministas and the media promote this you go girl culture.

At the same time they hate and resent people under them. My old boss hated a guy I know for trying to take charge and lead a meeting when she didn’t talk.

Plus they can hit you with a false pound me too allegation at any time

I've done this many times. I always do a weighted (-5 to 5) pro and con list for staying and a weighted (-5 to 5) pro and con list for staying. Then add your totals for each of the two (staying and leaving). If the number for leaving is significantly higher than the number for staying then it's time to make a transition plan to another job. I'm currently looking myself and as soon as I find something that I'm interested in then I will make my pros and cons lists and go from there. Ask your boss for a letter of recommendation, save that, make copies.

This is a tough economy to find new work, but doable.

Don’t quit till you have multiple offers in hand. MULTIPLE.

I had one offer get pulled once right before I quit my job because they lost a major customer.

My old boss told me an interesting way of looking at it: if you can earn $10,000 more, to work in a miserable environment, it's not worth it. Better earn less, but work in a warm environment.

i'll just say as a veteran food bev mgmt professional don't choose cooking unless you like long hours, grueling shifts, shit days off, and difficulty aligning a social life. Now this isn't to say in time you can gain the advantage in negotiations but that'll take a decade of resume building. I have that now so it's much better, any new gig prospect with my resume, I call the shots as far as pay, hours, time frame, etc. If they want elite talent and not shit they comply alas you'll have to pay your dues and it's rough. Please consider these words of advice if you pursue cooking, it is not a wonderful life overall.

Consider leaving a job when conditions turn against you, so you wouldn't accept the same job if you were applying for it. The reasons include low pay, coworkers that make you miserable over weeks and months, a new boss or new policies that make you miserable, or poor reward for hard work. You've encountered multiple reasons to leave. Be sure to consider whether you can find a better job before you quit or announce your intention to quit. It's always better to have a new job waiting before quitting your present job. That may not be possible during the covid shutdown.

I had a very similar situation last year. My job was okay, then a bunch of people left. The job started to grind on me more and more. My boss was a great guy, ex-military, but eventually even he had enough and handed his notice in. The company has been gradually getting worse over the past year.

I’d already been looking for a new job at this point but my boss handing his notice in was the final nail. So, it sounds like you already know.

For me, the fear of staying in my job became much worse than the fear of leaving. Once I realised this it was clear as day. It took me about 6 months to find something good and I managed to get a job working for the government, I had to take a slight pay cut and turn down a payrise, but the benefits are great at the new place and I’d rather be working my way up in a better environment than stuck in that place hating life.

Looks like you’ve already decided brother, just keep positive, because once you decide you’re done with your job, it will get a lot harder to tolerate the bullshit whilst you’re still there. I had some seriously dark depressed days, feeling like I was never gois to get out of that place. But now I’m so much happier, this job is 10x better and I can pursue by passions and hobbies in my spare time without dreading going to work.

Trade school is a very good shout. There will always be demand for those skills as a long as society is still a functioning thing, and you also have a great opportunity to become self-employed.

So think about what you want to do for a living, in my experience it needs to be something you feel is an asset to society (trade school for sure) and try to avoid jobs that feel overwhelmingly pointless, it’s not good for the soul.

Believe in yourself and be confident, you will find something better, all the best!
