It’s so underrated how hard it is to end a multi year relationship...so underrated.

You’re an inspiration to so many by doing what needed to be done. Especialllllllly when it means ending it with an otherwise decent guy.

You know how I know you’re a complete baddass? The fact that you did it during quarantine. Truly use this time for yourself. Give yourself some time to cry it out and then get to work. Get your mind (read) body (exercise) and soul (pray/meditate) right everyday. Oh and journal out your feelings! Most importantly, don’t be afraid to relaaaaaax. If you take care of your souls now, when outside opens back up, mark my words, you will me a magnet to nothing but excellence and good ass vibes, I promise you.

Remember this sis: he could have been a disgusting unemployed bigoted abusive cheater, and he still would have felt hurt by you leaving. Him feeling hurt does not mean your choice was wrong or a mistake. Just because you were a good partner to him doesn’t mean he was the right partner for you. In the end you are your own advocate. Own your right to make the choices that benefit you!

Hey I’m sorry you’re going through this. I know it hurts to walk away from someone who you once loved and thought was right for you. I think it’s wonderful that you want to be selfish and work on yourself. That’s the best thing you can do right now! When I was dealing with my own heartbreak, I made a list of every thing I didn’t like my ex-partner doing and how bad it made me feel. On days that I thought of him, that I questioned my decision, Or got lonely, i read that list over again. Don’t allow yourself to forget that you walked away because you wanted something better for yourself! In regards to being selfish and working on yourself you can start even with small things to pamper yourself. After I split with my ex, I finally learned how to properly do my toe nails (you might already have perfected this lol it took me a while). I learned how to better style my hair. I got a new skin care routine. I started taking bubble baths. I started doing anything that made me feel good about myself, no matter how small. Of course you can also get a new hobby, learn a new language or pursue other things. But point is do what YOU want and what makes YOU feel good. Doesn’t have to be a huge change or it could be a huge change. What matters is that you’re putting yourself first! And remember to be kind to yourself. Some days will be good and some days you might find yourself a bit sad, missing your old relationship. If this happens, allow the emotions to flow. Don’t blame yourself or feel “dumb” for missing certain aspects of your relationship. On these days, love yourself even more. Allow yourself to feel so you can begin to release.

I hope you recover emotionally soon!

From my personal experience though, women tend to overestimate the emotional impact breakups have on men. When we broke up, my ex bf used to send me pictures of him crying. Turns out he started looking for hookups the very next day after our breakup. Meanwhile, I got to 80 lbs ( I'm 5'7) and got grey hairs at 19 from all the stress.

I heard many stories since then to assume that there's a pattern here. Of course, every case is different, but still, you gotta be your #1 priority.
