It's because they're raised on a steady diet of "girls suck" so even when they have nothing worthwhile going on in their lives, there's always this comforting knowledge at the back of their minds that at least they're not a female. When a woman, any woman, proves she's better than them, the reflex is to slap her back down and protect that unearned feeling of superiority.

My dad may not be a HVM but he always gave me and my brothers great advice and this is just proof that he reminds me he's right. He always told us never lower your standards for anyone- at some point someone will meet them or they won't and just keep living your life. I take this to heart now and this tweet just proves it but hey at least he acknowledged we're awesome. I guess whining is the only way to handle it!
