Met a guy last summer, but he doesn’t live in this country (more on that below). Just friends initially, because the distance. He came back a few more times, the final time being 6 weeks. As we moved closer towards being more than friends he

  1. Never pressured me to do anything
  2. Remembers obscure details about me and a conversation we had
  3. Always asked how my day was
  4. Would (and still does) tell me he’s proud of my achievements in work and in my health/fitness journey (which parallels his)
  5. He took me AND his mom out to dinner
  6. He sent me holiday gifts, unexpectedly, including jewelry.

I was getting some green flags, but the distance made me nervous. How do I know I’m not a US girl toy and he has someone back in the UK. He’s mid thirties, never married, and hasn’t been in a relationship in a while.

I learned he hasn’t moved because

  1. He takes care of his partially disabled mother
  2. He takes care of his nieces, who’s mother has addiction issues

Now I’m going on a vacation with my parents and siblings, and on a whim invited him. He jumped at the chance, is paying his share including lots of airfare.

This man is flying 12 hours to spend 2 weeks with me, and part of that time with my family.

We aren’t official. We talked once about what we mean to each other. We definitely need to have a conversation about the future and what Long Distance means,

Before I go diving in head first... what do I need to learn and ask to make sure he really is the HVM I think he is?

I’m 33. Never been a pickmeisha, because I refuse to settle (I lovingly blame my HVM father who obviously adores my mother even after being together 44 years), but that also means I don’t have a lot of dating experience.

Help me sisters!
