I have some women friends who I initially thought were pretty solid and strong. If i weren't browsing FDS I wouldn't recognize that their behaviors are very pick-me and it turns me off from hanging out with them because it betrays that their need for male validation is more important than our friendship. We always hear the "bros before hoes" but there is no female version of that.
Some examples:
Girls night out, one of the women would chat up a guy and invite him over our table, she would end up fawning over the guy for the night instead of actually spending time catching up with us. I've literally said "what are you bringing him here for, we don't need him" and I've gotten chided that I will become bitter and alone forever if I keep going down on this path. Throughout the whole night this dude kept trying to get my attention because he's one of those 'i need every woman's validation why won't she validate me waaaah". The more I ignored the harder he tried it was really embarrassing but that girl who brought him over got lowkey pissed at me.
Another example, female coworker who I thought was a badass but when there is a male coworker in the vicinity will completely ignore me because 100% of her attention is on this man. It was like a switch had been turned and it went from "omg this woman is the best" to "yep I'm invisible to her when a penis is in the area."
I have two female friends who get quiet and give me the cold shoulder after a night out with their boyfriends/husbands and their SO's were paying more attention to me despite me trying to get out of it and focus on the girls.
Not sure how to handle this honestly. I don't seek out men. In fact I've quit my male dominated hobbies and sought out more hobbies with a feminine energy. I've blocked, ignored, shut down men messaging me and my inbox is dry as the sahara. The past couple of months I have only hung out with girlfriends. I've been so at peace the past couple of months that the thought of having a man in my life is becoming less and less attractive.
However now that I am single again it seems I am losing some friendships that I thought were solid because of competition? The threat? Even older women aren't exempt and would make comments on how they hate me because of "oh you're so young and beautiful you get so much attention".
All of these women I've mentioned know that I am trying to heal and focusing on myself, that a man is the last thing on my list. So they know I'm not trying to steal men or even compete for attention.
Do I get rid of these fickle friends? How do I meet more friends that have a more FDS mentality rather than a jealous insecure pickmeisha type of mentality.
