Throwaway because I’m still terrified.

But I did it. I finally got a restraining order to ensure that my ex would stay away. Everything is still fresh, and to preserve anonymity I won’t give anymore details, but I just wanted to express myself.

I’ve spent the last couple of years scared to speak up. Scared to say anything against him because it was only met with violence and hostility. I’m still so scared of him and what’s going to happen when he figures out I’ve done this, but for now, I’m working towards a safer future. I’m making moves, making a plan. I have a support network(they were relieved when I told them I’m doing this, they saw the red flags ages ago and kept quiet in the hopes I’d come to this conclusion myself), I have a reliable job, and other resources. I can do this. I know I can. I’ve survived this long, right?

My main point; I wouldn’t have gotten to this point if I hadn’t found this sub. So many other subs gave this one shit that I had to see what the hullabaloo was about. I may not agree with 100% of the things in this sub, but I do agree with 99% of them. You all gave me confidence in myself when I had none, and while I still feel weak and vulnerable, I know I can make it through this. The beginning is going to suck, but I can get through this. I know I can. Thank you, all of you. I couldn’t have done this without you.
