Yes, all the time. They want to know that you're at home on a Saturday night twiddling your thumbs. I just don't reply until way later and keep it vague - I don't lie or anything though. If I was on a date I just say "hanging out with a friend".

It drives them nuts.

Yeah be careful how much you tell them about where you go and what you do... the pressure to let them into more aspects of your life in the early stages can be pretty intense and at that point all it really serves is to give them stalking material if you dump them. I mean answer those sort of questions too early, too often and too fully and some disgruntled dude could turn most of your life into stalker hell including your gym, any group meetups you go to for your hobbies, etc. Also the more they know about you the more they know how to tailor their game to you and the less they show of themselves.

Maybe give a quick and not particularly informative response and then answer "and where are you?" and encourage him to talk about himself.

why did i even match with this guy. well, problem solved. after I wouldn't answer his hysterical, repetitive questions (this was over the space of 5 minutes), he unmatched me.
