That whole thread with the r/iamverysmart guy is exactly why we need this sub. He admits he dated a woman he saw as an 8 and messed it up and lost her. His standards are clearly very high but when he found a woman who met them he wasn't good enough to keep her interested. Now he wants women to lower their standards so he doesn't have to get better at being a partner.
Of course a woman who ends up with a guy like that will be settling. It's the best he can hope for if he's not willing to improve. I don't see how that's our fault but it is always our fault somehow.
