Honestly communicating my needs with men has always been extremely difficult for me. I was conditioned to value any attention and approval over my own feelings. I'm Leveling Up and learning to share how I feel. This may not be a success for everyone, but I'm proud of myself :)

Context: one of the guys I'm seeing was regularly asking me "wyd" when he would text me. Honestly he's way too old to be saying it and I'm too mature to be hearing it.

Plus I realized setting boundaries and communicating needs is a good way to vet quality men, because a lot of guys I've talked to in the past would have gotten defensive or dismissive.

I think one of my problems is that I was very much the guy in relationships. I didn’t mind these “wyd” texts and sent plenty of these low effort messages myself. I would also book coffee dates all the time because I didn’t want to get stuck with a boring guy through dinner. But now I see I was just attracting what I was giving out: low effort. So I gotta get better at this.
