Jordan Peterson is not strictly RP, but his views are compatible with at least 90% of RP concepts. With the exception of 'The Rational Male', none of the books on the sidebar are actually 100% RP either. Jordan Peterson is AT LEAST as RP as most of the sidebar material, if not more. He has his short comings, as do all great teachers, but listening to his ideas has never been a waste of time.

If nothing else, Jordan Peterson is one of the greatest debaters in the West. Being competent in debate is definitely an alpha trait. If you gain nothing else from him, learn how to win arguments with your words.

I don't mind him. His conversations with Jonathan Haidt and also Camille Paglia should be required watching. I can slide along easily in the TradCon world and be ok with it, plus the TradCons don't hate me for being a straight white guy who fucks young women and makes money.

My tradcon neighbors are like, "Oh, you'll settle down when the right woman comes along!" (Me: "Um...I'm 50. The right woman comes along 2-3 times a week.")

This is juxtaposed to the Leftoids and SJWs with their "muh PRIVILEGE!!!" garbage and #meetoooooo!! attention seeking. While my view on this is not in favor with my fellow ECs, I am not so doctrinaire as to discount that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. So I think JP has some value but he's not explicitly RP and never claimed to be.

He’s been rejected by RP mostly on the basis that he believes traditionalism should and will inevitably come back, whereas RP is more about accepting the full reality that traditionalism has been set on fire and pushed down a hill in a rolling garbage bin. Don’t chase after the flaming garbage bin.

That being said, he does frequently talk about some AWALT truths and other biological, political, and psychological points that RP also talks about.

He’s also a massive advocate of self-improvement and gives quite a lot of SMV raising advice.

I’d say he’s a great speaker and healthy supplement to TRP, so long as he doesn’t convince you that there’s hope in returning to a culture that fosters traditional relationships as the norm.

I love him and used to follow him religiously, but he's definitely not red pilled in manners of relations. He's devoutly married and recommends the same for everyone else (enforced monogamy). But that's also in the context of raising a family, making a better community, etc.

I could hear him talk about religion (with Sam Harris too) all day.

He says women are hypergamous and tells men to take on responsibility and find meaning and work out, go out into the world and be courageous. He then says this will of course benefit women because they will have higher value males, too, which falls in line with RPwomen stuff.

He called MGTOW a pathetic bunch of weasels once, but then retracted it.

I basically agree with Black Dragon about Jordan Peterson. JP is a closet tradcon. He's not a standard tradcon because he's smart enough to play coy, and dance around the question if you directly ask him about his beliefs. Instead he'll make a bunch of sound points and in the middle of it he'll slip in some tradcon non-sense.

Such as:

Shut up, calm down, and “grow up.” Stop having all this sex and having fun and stuff. That’s immoral, childish, and/or nihilistic.
Be a Christian, and give yourself to God. It doesn’t fucking matter that the Bible doesn’t make any sense. It’s what’s best for society, so shut up.
Get legally, monogamously married (because that’s what a “real man does”), and if you’re white, marry someone else white (to “save the white race”). It doesn’t matter what the divorce rate is. Just shut the fuck up and get married because that’s what society needs.
Have lots and lots of kids because kids are the meaning of life, you have an obligation to your race, and you need kids and grand kids to take care of you and entertain you when you’re old (which is no longer true these days, but that’s what they believe).
Vote for Republicans (or other right-wingish parties) religiously, because they’re the only ones who can Save Us™. (Never mind that Republican politicians who spend like drunken sailors such as George W. Bush or Trump are just as responsible for the immanent financial collapse of the USA as left wingers.)

Tradcons mean well. They really do. Some of the men I’m close to in my personal life are tradcons, and I love and respect them. The problem is that their advice is calibrated for a man living in circa 1952 at the zenith of Western power, not a man living in the 21st Century in a crumbling society like the Collapsing USA. Taking the above advice in 1952 was a pretty good idea. Taking that advice today means you’ll probably destroy your future.

JBP is Blue Pill. His advice mostly revolves around "building a better Beta" as Rollo likes to say. JBP's view on relationships has been shaped, I think, by a lifelong ONEitis for his wife, whom he met when he was just a little kid. He doesn't discuss the Alpha fucks side of the equation or the idea of 'genuine desire'.

Instead, he advocates finding "a partner that you can negotiate with" which is classic Beta Bucks - a partnership centered around transaction and exchange. Since this is likely the only type of relationship JBP has ever known, he literally cannot fathom a relationship based on genuine desire.

I see very few negative comments here about him other than people who don't like his stance on religion and marriage. Which is understandable.

My direct opinion. He's a rich, hyper-intelligent, tall, well-respected cool white dude who has his life together and is living the blue-pilled dream of marrying his crush he met at 8yrs old. He's put himself in a position where he's standing up for free speech and truth, and a large part of that is because of the two things trp attacks him on the most. Religion and marriage.

I like the way he dismantled Sam Harris four times so far, for a total of nearly 8 hours where he destroys atheism as a believe system (denial system?), and the possibility of rationale as a starting point for discovering ethics. Which hilariously enough, is already outlined in the bible in a few metaphorical stories. And then again in crime and punishment.

He's a nice dude who has his act together, has a good message, stands up for the most important right/responsibility... Still has salty haters.

Not sure if he's RP, but doesn't matter to me. He has good advice in his books and interviews. Can't 100% agree with any single person in my opinion. Just disregard whether he is RP and you decide what philosophies you want to follow.

I personally love his work on Meaning and then psychological signifigance of story archetypes, it's made my life a lot richer in myriad ways, and helped me build a solid emotional and psychological frame that really allowed me to unlock potential and gain agency over my destiny.

TRP gives him grief because he's a Tradcon with an excellent career, a 30 year marriage, children - the whole American dream and pitches that it can still be had today. Some call it the Blue pill dream.

I find it strange that major tenant that TRP uses to justify it's existence is that move of society away from Tradcon values, allowing for major inequality on the sexual market place - especially to justify the anger felt by many about that very fact.

Then JBP comes along and makes a thorough, if not solid, case for a return to Tradcon values and is leading by example, and everybody is offended that he even tried.

TRP taught me how to understand women - what they want, why they do the weird shit they do, how to makeyself attractive to them.

JBP taught me how to understand myself. Some of his work borders TRPs intellectual space, but they're really two completely different bodies of thought that I have gained a LOT of knowledge and power from.

There's a significant part of what he advocates and the logic that he uses to get there that is 100 percent compatible with the red pill praxeology with regards to sexual dynamics, the nature of the world and the nature of the path that men should take in the general sense.

However, what he recommends doing with that information in terms of the specific path men should take is where things diverge quite a bit. While the RP recommendation is that a man decides what he wants and then uses these tools to get it, JP's recommendation is essentially that being a patriarch and raising kids is the way to go and that the tools should be used by all men to go after that goal.

A comparison of Nietzsche and Jung's individual recommendations for how life should be lived isn't completely out of place here. Simplifying for the sake of space, Nietzsche believed that people should decide their own wants and then work towards them, but Jung believed that a person's wants were determined biologically and were more uniform in nature.

What it comes down to, more is less, is that Peterson believes Nietzsche was wrong that these goals/values can be chosen somewhat arbitrarily and that Jung was right that they had to be biologically determined. This is why so much of his discussion of the tool set (for lack of a better phrase) is in line with the red pill praxeology, but he has a different opinion (and a rather specific one) when it comes to what's best to do with that tool set.

And look, it's not like he doesn't have good reasons for believing what he does, and he's said on a plethora of occasions that he could be wrong. That's just his best understanding of what should be done based on his work and how the universe has laid itself out to him.
