This goes for family too. If they can't be bothered to even make a simple phone call on your birthday or holidays, who needs them.
I think a lot of people put up with disrespect because it was normalized by family.

Sums it up so succinctly - if they want you then they are already there with you.
I have a recent ex where our breakup happened as he really wasn’t over the pain of the breakup with his ex-wife and therefore was honest that he wasn’t ready for the serious relationship he thought he wanted again.
We parted on very good terms but I was adamant I wasn’t going to be friends with him (his suggested) and I went dark mode no contact.
Two months on and I have a niggling desire to contact him intermittently. But do I do it? Fuck, no way! If he wanted me he would already be here chasing me down.

Thank you for the reminder. I have cut off my entire family in both sides and the guy I was supposed to be friends with for 10+ years. Him I want to email but I know damn well he won’t respond.
I remind myself of this daily but it’s nice to see it in writing in my face.

Thankyou for this.. Blocking and deleting seems hard the first few days but after that it's the best decision I ever made and with time I have learnt its how I take my power back..

Completely remove them from the contacts, delete everything associated with them, then block them on the phone and all social media. I have one guy who will pop up when I get a new phone like clockwork. It never fails. That just reminds me to start the process all over again.

I'll slip up sometimes in a moment of weakness and instantly regret it. It has yet to open the door to communication, the discard was real and ongoing in my case. I just need to come to terms with reality and the spot checks do help. Remembering these words do as well.

This. I felt free the moment I deleted him after realizing he wasn't worth the tears, pain and suffering. Wish I had done it waaaaay sooner.

In a way I agree with this, but in a way, I don’t. I mean, isn’t it bad to feel like you can’t live without someone? To be dependent on someone like that? Idk.

Yes. But not to the point where you're doing all the emotional work, if after some time you realize they're never the ones who reach out, that's a clear sign said person doesn't want you in their life
