Yeah in the future, if my date is Friday, I'm reaching out Wednesday afternoon, under the pretense of confirming the time or location. If I don't hear anything by Thursday at noon, then I'm making my own plans. When Dusty McGee texts me on Friday at 3pm, no matter what he says, I politely decline.

It really ain't that deep though, you know? No reason to put a lot of personal feelings into it. It shouldn't be "How dare you flake on me, this is so rude and respectful. Don't you know my time is important??" That's LV behavior, even if you think you're setting boundaries. You're just making yourself sound crazy full of yourself and over-invested.

If he texts you back with after the deadline with "Yes oh my gosh I just saw this I'm soo sorry, I'll pick you up at 6?" Even if he is 100% telling the truth, you decline. You can politely say "Oh I'm so sorry, when you didn't respond I ended up making plans for tonight. I'm free next Tuesday though." If he's a good guy he'll say yes to Tuesday and won't be a loser about texting you next time. If he's an entitled loser, he'll be mad and he can die mad. This makes sure you're firm and it keeps him from being flakey or entitled if that is his natural tendency, because he knows you'll stamp him out.

If he texts you Friday morning with "Ohh I totally forgot about this I'm so sorry. Life has been so crazy recently!! How about we reschedule for Monday?" Again, this is rude behavior as it is past the deadline and flakey. What you want to do is make him sweat a little. Don't text him back til noon or so on Saturday. Make him wonder if you forgot about him. On Saturday just be like "Oh hey sorry my Friday night got away from me a little! I'd love to reschedule, but Monday doesn't work for me. Maybe next Thursday?" This makes him wonder if you were on a different date ;) and it also makes it so that he's not just plopping you into his schedule at a whim when convenient. You're gonna make him work for it and accommodate you. This all comes naturally when you're a busy self-focused person, so don't read it like playing games. Maybe strive to be a person who does have things scheduled, whether that's social plans, hobbies, or even introvert quiet time. For me, Monday is "me time" so even though I'm "free", I'm not available. Esp for a dusty dude on a date. Make sense?

If he doesn't respond at all, then hit the block button. You don't want him to come back next week/month/year (they really will) being like "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I forgot D:" There's no way to entertain that kind of behavior while continuing to be high value. Throw the whole man away, he belongs to the street on trash day.
