Have you ever been excited to the point that your current task at hand gets less priority from your brain when someone shows interest?

Unironically docturh Jordan Bee Peetersons Twelve Rules 4 Lyfe. Made me realize that most of my communication was deceptive and disingenuous, which wasn't serving me well.

I’m also reading 12Rules along with some Plato.

12 Rules is insightful about understanding yourself, why you act certain ways, and how to live the better life.

Plato has helped me better put into perspective how I should arrange my value hierarchy; Jordan also goes into this.

Both books can change the way you think indefinitely.

I think Plato is great too.

On the topic of Peterson: don't act like he's Jesus and what he says is the word of god, but also think for yourself instead of believing everything about him that terp tells you.

Excellent question.

Think of the book as a little like a handbook / kama sutra style manual.

Its central idea is that the main way to create attraction between yourself and women is to give them the best sex (which quite true). Everything else pales in comparison. Therefore, the book focuses on how to create a framework where we reduce sex as a funtion of four elements : dominance, emotion, variety, and immersion.

He posits that the level of sex you are able to give to a woman hinges on how well you are able to use these four elements together. Sex will only be as good as your weakest element. He gives great ideas on how these elements are important as well as examples on to improve these elements in their respective chapters.

What i like the most about it are how specific the examples on how to improve sex were, and the conciseness with which he is able to reduce complex ideas. He explains concisely profound ideas that are nontrivial for example:

the most emotionally vulnerable moment a woman can experience is during sexual arousal

the period after sex for women is a very important period where her emotional bond with you is strengthened and you should pay freat attention to this period

you should never initiate sex the same way twice

etc etc.

Not self-help book but rather psychoanalytical book, the Denial of Death by Ernest Becker.

It covers areas about what you are and why you became the person you are, what it means to be human, your limits, how your character is a "lie", why people follow certain activities with beliefs, how your self esteem and character is an anxiety buffer etc.

It's important in my opinion to understand why you chose to do certain activities, because there's a lot going on in your unconscious mind.

There's even one part about oneitis. People who base their belief in relationships and deify their partners, but this can only fail because they're limited.

Reading that book, I came to understand myself and other people better.

Although there are certain parts I don't agree completely, I collected the parts I find most important and internalised them. It's a difficult read though.

(Edit: Added a paragraph)

u/bruiser18 and u/MrRomantico

R. Greene is a typical modern author. His work is based on what I call distilling. He reads and refines classics like Prince of Machiavelli or Art of War by Sun Tzu and in this way he produces guide type of books which only contain the essence of the original and not in their true form. You should read classics because they are classics for a reason. Every sentence contains information that is suppose to sparkle insight in your brain.

As for C.G. Jung the man is a master mind. Truly his intelligence is something astonishing. I would start with Man and his symbols and then go over to Archetypes and subconscious.

Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman and Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. EI helped me realize how sensitive you are to your base emotional reactions. Meditations, similarly. Both help separate your mind from your brain, and help you become the watcher.

Thank you! I'll put them on my to-read list.
