It’s how it was originally but it’s not how it is anymore

[–]DelusionalDonut1317 points18 points  (4 children) | Copy

I agree.

Has feminist done good? Yes, yes it has. It’s done a lot of good.

But it’s also done a lot of bad. And a lot of feminists are refusing to realize that.

and I’m sorry to say, but a lot of anti-feminists are refusing to see the good

[–]username21362 points3 points  (2 children) | Copy

Yeah I agree but here’s the thing. From my understanding, feminism has done a lot of good things in the 20th century like the equal pay act of 1963 in the US and 1970 for the UK which singlehandedly destroyed any possibility of a wage gap happening. Yet these morons completely forget about that within the a decade later and still spouted wage gap nonsense and it has only gotten worse from there.

Yes, that is similar to my point of view:

It has done some good in the past, but it’s just doing a lot of bad now.

At least doing bad thinking that they are doing good.

Feminists have done tons of good, but "feminists" have not

I'm 60 and it wasn't about equality when I was young. I don't get the impression that it was about equality with the suffragettes either.

I suspect every generation needs to be disillusioned by feminism to understand it, but then it is too late and the next generation comes along.

That's how it should be

[–]StonefaceO_o9 points10 points  (0 children) | Copy

Well, it used to be that way... it used to be for equality, when females had less rights than men. So basically a long time ago.

But like many things this changed. Now it is a movement about power and hate. And it became a problem when they tried to enforceit in the first world countries.

I mean how many of this so called feminists do you see which fight for womenrights in africa? Like 1% of them...

While I can see that every sex has its own problems statistically men have it far worse in our society ( I honestly couldnt give a damn about the third world or any islamic country, because they are their own thing). I wouldnt mind that men have to suffer more in life because... hey we can all make our own decisions... but I hate that we still hear how much worse it is for women and that we need to fix that... like everywhere.

We can only hope that this cancerous movement will die out or be exposed for what it is: a men hate movement

What it become

What it meant to be

[–]NohoTwoPointOh3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

It never meant to be the image on the right. It is a a supremacy movement. Nothing less.

I always wonderd why it's called feminism when they want equality for men and women

[–]zeerust20007 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

Because it's based on the premise that men are so privileged and advantaged that achieving "equality" means only advocating for women. That, and stripping some men of their supposed privilege. It's an axiom that is so basic to feminism that, without it, feminism can't exist. And that's why most feminists don't want to discuss feminism with anyone who doesn't agree with them.

[–]Deathbysugar20203 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

You've got the definition of feminism wrong. Feminism refers to the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

Now it's evolved into getting more rights for women than men, because of biased and incomplete statistics.

Society:

Feminist= Defender of Equality Machist=Criminal

Bruh, their both extremists

[–]Eric_jsm20 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Lmao they made me think so

[–]zeerust20000 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

That's great and all.............but the ones you have to convince are all the other feminists, not us men.

[–]REEEEEE13370 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I think it’s calling out the sexists who say they’re feminists and not saying that third wave feminism is still just about equality because of the dictionary definition of feminism.

[–]Heterodynist0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

This is definitely NOT what feminism is, which is why I don’t believe in it.

[–]TomToms81 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

OP was saying that that’s not how it is not saying that that image is true

[–]fabixac1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Oh shit I misunderstood that one. Sorry 🙏

[–]cowyeti-1 points0 points  (2 children) | Copy

It is. Feminism has never been about giving women more rights than men. Can you name any legislation being pushed that would give women more rights than men?

[–]Arteemiis[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Well, what about the fact that I'm California (if I recall correctly, it may be another state) when a woman and a man both being drunk have sex, by law at that moment the man has raped the woman? Or what about the fact that in Madrid manspreading is again by law, illegal. What about the fact that in Britain the house of Lord's refused to talk about men's sexual harassment problems, and when they were forced to do so due to a public outcry, a female labour mp burst out laughing? What about the fact that 90% of custody cases are won by women? What about the fact that women on average get way less harsher convictions than men? And also there are a bunch of way more outrageous bills being forwarded every now and then that luckily never make it as law

[–]cowyeti-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

I read the law about drunk sex in California and I didn't find that it said men are always the rapists, in fact, it didn't mention gender at all.

The Madrid manspreading thing has been blown completely out of proportion. All that's changed is that they now put signs up like this-

https://static.independent.co.uk/s3fs-public/thumbnails/image/2017/06/08/13/manspread-madrid-poster.jpg?w660

This is just like the signs they have for no eating or no putting your feet on the seats. You won't get arrested and put in jail if you don't follow them. You'll just be asked not to and if you're a dick you'll get kicked off. And I don't know how manspreading is a man's right that women are taking away. It's rude to take up other's space.

I couldn't find any articles of the house of lords thing so if you could link me some that'd be great :)

The fact that women win 90% of custody cases is not a result of feminism, just gender roles. Feminists actually fought against this by proposing the equal rights amendment in the 70s, but groups calling themselves the antifeminists fought against it saying it would make women lose their advantage in custody battles. See? Feminist actually fought against their extra rights because they are for equality.

The sentencing disparity is seen simply because the jury system is flawed not because of feminism. Jurors commonly harbour unconcious sexist and racist attitudes and those affect how they determine punishments. Did you know black men on average receive longer sentences than white men? Feminists didn't fight to make that a thing.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
