I’ve been on 3 dates with a guy I thought had great promise.

However, at the end of our third date we didn’t agree on a fourth.

I also noticed he was taking longer and longer to respond to my texts, sometimes I’d have to wait until the next day to get a reply from him. He also stopped initiating texts.

I honestly thought he was doing the slow fade on me, but he surprisingly called me over the weekend and we had a chat. I told him I was looking forward to seeing him again, and he said ‘see you’

There was still no fourth date however, so I texted him yesterday afternoon asking if he wanted to come along to a dinner with my friends. He seemed keen and asked me what time it would be. When I told him, I got radio silence until the next morning, when he responded that he might be seeing a friend but he would ‘let me know’

Going off past experience, when someone says they would ‘let you know’ it was a gentle way of saying they weren’t interested. I replied back saying ‘hey I hadn’t heard back from you last night so I told my friends I would be going alone. Thanks for getting back to me though, appreciate it!’

Honestly it was sort of my goodbye to him, as all the mixed messages he’d given me over the past week made me so confused. But then this evening he sent me a tense message saying ‘well I was asleep so I couldn’t reply’

I didn’t want to point out to him that this was the third time he’s taken an entire day to reply and he didn’t seem interested in another date.

Did I misread his signals or did he send me that message just to mess with my heart?
