Hello. I would like to learn how to look good (and not fall down/wobble) while walking in 4+ inch heels. I am not sure if this is the best place for me to post but I am looking for women who intentionally learned to walk in heels with the aim of looking good for their husbands and appearing feminine/confident in their femininity.

I work a job where I must wear covered toes at work and I am on my feet, doing things like crouching down and lifting/manipulating maybe 50-60 lb boxes, pouring liters of bleach, and repairing occasionally greasy mechanical things. I walk on linoleum all day. To work I typically wear 1.5in block heel lace-up boots (Taos boots). These are the tallest shoes I can move 100% comfortably in, and despite the height, I do not even notice them any more. I am 5'9" so these make me rather tall - 5'10.5 or so, which I really enjoy. I want to wear even higher heels but am looking for something I can wear frequently - either at work or as a casual shoe when out with my husband, good to walk a bit in - like enough for a visit to a museum or a concert or casino or something. .

My only heels right now:

  • My Taos boots which I love. (1-1.5 in heel)
  • Strappy peeptoe heels, very thick heel, but poor traction ( 2-2.5 in). I got these at a shoe store that specializes in comfortable shoes which I thought was a good pair to start with - the strappiness is the only uncomfortable bit and the lack of traction on certain floors means I rarely wear these for fear of falling. I have worn them out to a concert successfully with no pain directly from the incline of the heel - only from the straps digging into the top of my foot over time.
  • Sexy but real cheap strappy, peeptoe, stiletto (~4 in) heels my husband got me ages ago from amazon that I have only worn in bed.

My peeptoe strappy heels, maybe 2-2.5 inches that have a thick heel. I can walk in these, but only with my weight on the balls of my feet - I know the correct way is with weight on the heel. However, when I walk that way in these heels, on any surface other than carpet, I lose traction and have come very close to a total wipe out - not the look I want. I also rarely have occasion to wear these and, when I do, the strappiness hurts the top of my foot after a while - maybe due to how my weight is on my toes in them though...

I am thinking some shoes with good traction are necessary for me to learn the correct way to put my weight on heels - I would like some I can wear to work so I can practice every day, on days when I want to. I have been scoping out the rubber soled Persephone Doc Martens, which looks like they have EXCELLENT traction for heels - they have a rubber tread like a workboot! - but they are also quite high and I am worried that the large increase in height from what I am accustomed to will make it such that I cannot ever wear these shoes/they are useless until I "work up to" them. If I can walk in these comfortably, these shoes could potentially work at my job, but I am curious if there is something similar but a little less high, maybe....

I am also interested in ankle booties but my eyes keep going to the stillettos - I LOVE the Via Spiga Bettie shoes in that dark purple color. However, I know the tall stiletto there very likely has traction issue and it also has an extremely tall height, so I suspect I should not go there yet. What I like about them is the shape - I like the platform and stilletto combo and how shape of the shoe just very smoothly transitions to heel. I would love to wear these with jeans some day

Any advice or shoe recommendations? Thank you so much!
