I noticed in my twenties that financial concerns usurped romantic ones in my mind. Not having money was a WAY BIGGER CONCERN than 'wahhh why won't she fuck me'. Keeping that perspective proved to be very vital. Then when I had money, I knew it could away go at any moment and that any good luck with girls would follow. You can always find someone to fuck, finding another job where you make the same money is a tad more difficult.

Women / sex is a luxury.

Work = money. Money = time. That's an existential issue.

I know at least two guys who have wives who are the breadwinners and mostly because of AA, are in pretty cushy situations because women don't really work, they can mostly just occupy space and get paid very well. Seems like a stable arrangement because the usual stresses are minimal. That said, I'd prefer not to go the paypig route because of the loss of freedom, but opportunities are out there for some guys.

When you get married in the USA, your finances get merged with your spouse. All the debt and assets get smashed together. Now laws vary from state to state. Lets say you have a premarital property. You may be able to claim the premarital property as yours but the spouse is entailed to half the appreciation. Another example, your have 250K in stock, premarital. You may be able to claim thats a premarital asset but the spouse would be entitled to half the capital gains. Now if any money in the stock accountant is mingled with a joint savings account, all bets are off. Now when it comes time for divorce the lawyers and cpa's get there cut. Have you seen there billing rates?

That just assets what about debts? Well if two publicly traded companies on wall street decide to merge an army of people will look over the financially before they give a go ahead. In the USA, people get married without even looking at there spouses credit report.

There's alot of other pitfalls, too many to mention. I hear mention of "common law" marriages in other countries where you just shack up and the courts treat it as a real marriage.

Now I know marriage rates are down and trending down. They will probably fine some laws to make it appear more fair for guys but it never will be.

Getting married once taught me valuable lessons. If your signing your name in front of a notary, think twice and three times. In fact if you can avoid signing your name for anything,

Of all the financial things in life that have hurt me the most, it's these three that top the list by a wide margin. Did I occasionally buy something I regret? Sure, but a couple bucks here and there is nowhere near $30k of debt and medical issues.
